Omigosh. A $4 Winnie, that's incredible. It pays to go around the flea markets and garage sales. I learned while collecting first edition books that any thing can be anywhere. Just gotta go find it.
The tricky part is that I have seen a lot fakes as well. When I spied the Winnie, the first thing I said to myself was breath and don’t get excited until you see the Creed. I began to get excited when I didn’t see any tell tale problems. I did the happy dance when AT gave me the blessing!
Among other thrift hits were a NYC white Dinky, NYC Pouch (not actual) name, NYC Shoulder Sac, Monterey Hobo, Ranch, red Curtis and Patti. Not show stoppers per se, but nice $25 and under purchases to round out my collection.

I bought my grandma a coach bag as a gift a few years ago and we had a relative who was visiting us take it from her without asking. My grandma was so upset cause she loved that bag! Well she’s currently stuck overseas because of covid (she was on vacation) but I can’t wait til she gets back because I won her the exact same bag at auction for $10!! Shes gonna be so happy! Ebay comes through sometimes! :yahoo:

That’s exactly what I think happened! Our little world can certainly be cut throat at times!
Most definitely. Its starting to get really rough.
And we know there's at least one reseller who reads this and other Coach threads on a regular basis, and is famous for buying low and selling at obscenely high prices. Someone who's only motive is profit probably wouldn't have any qualms at all about contacting a seller and snatching a badly listed or too-low priced bag right from under the nose of someone else, even if the bag had already been paid for. And I'm sure that some resellers like that would feel even more smug about it if it was a tPF member who got screwed. Don't expect common courtesy from someone who's main motivation is greed.

Think about it.

Any time you get a super-great deal, keep it to yourself until the item is actually IN YOUR HANDS. We're probably being stalked here, and doesn't it seem that this kind of thing has been happening more often recently? Regardless of who's doing it, anyone who brags about their great deal before it's complete stands a chance of someone stealing it right out from under them.

I stopped posting even inexpensive rehab type listings here. I don’t have a problem with even the lurker who just wants to learn rehab. I lurked for 6 months before I joined. And in the big picture, if you want to buy a bag cheap and flip it for $$$, so be it, it comes with this territory. But I won’t enable obnoxious opportunistic poachers who take advantage of this supportive community!
On a few occasions, if I know a fellow posting member is looking for a particular bag and I see one, I PM them. As a few here have done for me.
As far as WYRTB, even though I haven’t posted there lately, poachers, have at it!

The original, unscrupulous seller who reneged on the deal after money changed hands should be the one hung out to dry. They should treat the original purchase made by the original buyer as the sale and honor that transaction.

I had lurked for six YEARS learning how to rehab before I decided to join. I really don't know why, seems silly in hindsight.

Does anybody have a Tango bag? I just asked about a Pocket Purse in AT and felt wary of the seller as she is also selling a Tango bag with a strange-looking back-of-female-part of the turnlock. Then I looked at other Tango listings and found out they all look like this. They don't have the prongs, but rather a continuous lip holding the part in place. The male part looks different as well, rounder and beefier with a wider edge. What's up with that? Are there other bags with that style turnlock, and can they be removed for rehab?

I dont have a tango, but they are a weird bag. Seeing pictures you think they are a decent size, but they are ridiculously small. I think they are the only bag with that turnlock back.

I had one once. That is the kind of turnlock they should have. I don't know if they are removable. It looks like they would be difficult. I can't recall a bag with that kind of turnlock but they made some keychain/coin purses with that kind.

And so the unscrupulous second buyer is completely innocent in the transaction? Excuse me, but that's BS. He (or she) knows exactly what they're doing and that most real world auction houses and many auction sites consider it unethical, and they also know that a large amount of quick money waved under a seller's nose can be too hard to refuse, especially in times like these. For example, in-person auction laws are pretty clear, and online auctions tend to follow the same general principles. "Once a bid is accepted, the seller has no right to accept a higher bid, nor can a buyer withdraw the buyer’s bid[ii]. Generally, an auction is complete when the bid is accepted. A binding contract is created by the auction."

You're whitewashing the under-the-table second buyer but I'm going to disagree, and I think the bona fide bidders or buyers who actually followed the rules, trusted the system, and got shafted might disagree too.

Maybe greed excuses all sins in someone else's world, but not in mine.

No poaching could happen if the original deals were enforced.

No poaching could happen if the original deals were enforced.

Good luck with that. Enforced by whom, exactly?

And no poaching would happen if the greedy poachers were less freakin' greedy. Good luck with that too. I don't believe in putting the onus on the victim, but apparently some people do. The poor, misunderstood perp who gave the system the middle finger is completely innocent of any wrong? Is there a particular reason why you feel that way? The person who initiated what's essentially a breach of contract doesn't bear any responsibility?

That's a stinking world to live in. It may be the world we live in now, but that doesn't mean it's right.

when I rehabbed my tango, I tried to remove the turnlock and it was impossible for me so I gave up to avoid damaging the bag- I think the tango turn lock is non removable

And many of them are on the more expensive side, especially considering their size!

They have a weird shape that doesn’t really fit items right. Im not sure how to explain it, but I really hated mine when I got it so I passed it on. Id say if you want a tango style small bag- the scooter would be your best bet. I didn’t like my scooter much when I got it but now its my most used bag. Ive beaten it while running errands to the point where it needs another dunk. I really want a scooter in a different colour but they’re so hard to come by

Theres a bag that I want and its auction style but this time Im prepared! I have an alarm set for when its ending and I googled the bag to see what it typically sells for so that my bid is high enough that one of those resellers won’t outbid me because they need to worry about their profit margin while I just wanna add it to my collection! I swear if this time I don’t win, Im never touching auctions again!! I can’t handle the disappointment lmao
When I'm bidding for resale I can tell pretty fast when there is a bidder that really just wants it for them. I like that its gonna find a good home even when I don't get it. I usually just end up buying the bags that need more work than the average shopper wants to do anyway. That way all the pretty bags get a new life.
