You can remove the male part for rehab but not the female. I think all tangos have nickel though so removing them may not be necessary. The one drawback to rehabbing a tango I’ve found is that they are so pocket heavy that they are a pain to get into being as small as they are. If you’re using something like blackrock that needs to set up, and doing it panel by panel then it becomes extremely time consuming! Not really worth it in my honest opinion. ;)
Nah, not really interested in the Tango anyway. I was just intrigued by the strange turnlock.

the card case’s edges started to peel after a few months of use.
Yes this why I am very shy about buy any designer bag these days. I have a small wristlet that I bought probably 8 years ago, admittedly it was from outlet, and the plasticky undetachable strap has cracked in the bend, really all along the whole strap, so it is pretty much unusable now. But then another wristlet has a leather strap, and it is going strong.

I started looking at LVs before I got on my vintage Coach kick and I was so shocked at how the used LVs were cracked and split along the edges of the canvas and around the corners. Burberry was the same. I determined pretty quickly that it was just not worth over $1000 for a bag that will wear and tear just the same as, if not faster than, the cheap stuff. I did buy one new bag from the Coach website last month that had the plastic type of canvas but it was 50% off, so only $260, and I hope I don't regret that in a few years. At full price even, that seems to be entry level spending for some folks. I can't imagine! If I can't get a recently released style on super sale for around $100-$200 (contemporary designer of course, not the high end stuff), its just not ever going to live in my closet. For the wear and tear that happens, I just cannot invest very much. That goes for Michael Kors and Kate Spade, any designer that uses that plastic canvas material.

My card case was leather and from the boutique, not outlet, and it still peeled! I was shocked. I expect coated canvas to peel because it usually always does, but leather?! I was so mad lol, luckily since it was a boutique purchase, coach gave me a replacement and I was able to sell it and recoup my money back. I agree, I used to buy retail and outlet coach, MK & Kate Spade and I regret spending the money as it wasn’t anything special for the cost. I also had a Stella McCartney Falabella crossbody that was actually very high quality but the chain was extremely heavy so I sold it. I don’t think Ill ever buy a retail bag as Ive stated before, just doesn’t seem worth it for me anymore- especially because I love rehabbing haha :)

I don't have a lot of really recent bags. I have the Kaffe Fasset Marleigh. I haven't used it enough to give an impression on how it is going to wear but it is truly a work of art. My other three bags bought recently are the originals Emery 21, the 1941 clutch with leather sequins, and an unknown colorblock metallic camera bag I got on FOS. The leather on the clutch feels nice and I love the leather lining. The exterior smooth leather scratches easily. The Emery is stiff and not really the best leather but I love the style and color and haven't seen any signs of wear.

I think it is hit and miss. It helps to buy on sale. Usually by then there are reviews. I have a few other bags from premier brands and I think most of my Coach bags compare favorably.
My most recent bag from either Coach boutique store or official website is the large red colorblock Dreamer. I bought it at it's pre release right after their runway show, also it is the only full price bag I ever purchased from Coach, usually I wait for Christmas or Summer sale etc.
TBH I love it, such a cute and clever designed bag. Don't want to dig it out from inside dust bag, here is a file photo of an identical bag.
ETA: after the Dreamer, I found Vintage Coach.

I spent about 2 hours last night reading the “coach Screed” article where the person breaks down why Coach bags today essentially suck compared to the originals / full grain vs. genuine leather/ the hug it creed etc. Im sure most of you have read the article Im referring to. I noticed on the only bag I purchased from Coach recently- the 1941’s dinky- how different the leather felt. I now realize that I too had fallen for the “genuine glove tanned” lie! Anyways, that was a seriously fantastic read and it makes me appreciate my vintage collection that much more. I had my eye on the 1941’s duffle 20 but not anymore! I refuse to pay for “genuine leather”. Give us back full grain, with nylon stitching and aniline dyes!

heres the article if anyone who hasn’t read it wants to:

What a lengthy read! It is fascinating and makes me love the vintage even more. The quality of the older bags and simplicity is where my heart is shifting these days. I am slowly purging my own bag collection and wanting to shift more to the time-worn classics. I wonder if there is a way to tell which styles/years had the 8oz hides. As if my shopping wasn't crazy enough...this spurns more research to be done!

After I read it, I added that double kisslock skinny cashin bag shown in one of the pics to my wishlist haha- This article sent us further into the vintage coach craze
