Interesting, I also have an older bag where the strap is two-tone with the middle darker than the piping and the bag itself. I wonder if it was originally this way or that’s how the leather aged.
I think it is because different types of leather took the dye differently. It doesn't usually happen now because they use computers.

What's going on with this bag?

I purchased this off Mercari and got it authenticated here, but this scratch looks wrong to me. It's like the scratches I see on moder vinyl or fake leather, where the top layer pulls away from the bottom. But in other places I see the wear I would expect from a vintage bag? I can't seem to win with these darn periwinkle bucket bags :(
Are they essentially painted? Maybe I need to stick with classic colors that go all the way through. 20200627_185155.jpg20200627_185203.jpg1593302177470674699995821783238.jpg15933021967681273990528369613173.jpg

IMO all bets are off with Periwinkle! It doesn't strike me as a color that the leather takes to well. Although I have a Periwinkle Maggie too, with some light wear on the piping that came back a bit with CPR and BlackRock, which is more than I was expecting.

reminds me of my periwinkle lunch box. Trying to work on fixing it now.

I don't know, it looks absolutely authentic.

My periwinkle belted pouch was always in perfect condition. It's lightweight leather so the dye process may have been different.

Last I looked it was there, but the seller had only 3 feedbacks

I bought a coach bag from a seller with 0 feedback once. I find it doesn’t matter how much feedback a seller has, as long as its not negative. Also Ebay is pretty awesome about returns and if you use Paypal, thats another layer of protection to get your money back if things go south!

eta: I just checked what the seller is selling and its kinda sketchy that they’re selling pre-order shoes with no pictures of the actual product, also they keep mentioning “no scams”. Im not saying these are necessarily red flags but Id be cautious and get more pictures of the bag to verify authenticity before sending an offer @Narnanz

ta muchly...lost the link to it but Im not a station fan at all so no worries there.

I found a periwinkle vintage coach bag last night and the auction was gonna end this morning on Ebay. I completely forgot about it and when I went to go check it ended with only 1 bid!! This is why I hate auctions!! I always forget to check lol :crybaby:
There are websites that help you jump in at the last second with a bid. I can’t remember what they are called, but someone here probably can help you find one.
ETA: it’s called sniping

Ive looked into those, they are called bid snipers, but Im not very comfortable putting my personal info in to create an account. If anyone here uses one though that they can vouch for, Id consider it
