Thank you both for your replies. I did some research on this and the rehab threads and based on the age, there is a NYC bag I am interested in that is gray in color, but it looks like it has some taupe/beige undertones. Now, could it be due to age/fading? Perhaps? I am not sure, but it is no where near as dark as Roro's and not as solid grey as VintageIsBest's.

I found the magazine photo with all the hangtags that represented the colors from the mid-80's and it looks like maybe it is the simple "Grey" color after all, which is lighter.

Here's a 1987 catalog pic of a Flannel Grey Shoulder Sac:

Now that I’ve looked at the catalog picture I think my collection is definitely just “grey”. :)

I learned that from your posts on AT! Also, the details on the keeper, that have the stitching on edge. It is the same with the keeper on the Sling bag too. There are a lot of listing for Sling bags that are fake. I always look for a pic of the keeper to see if the the edge is unstitched.
I went back to look at the picture of those bags because of this post! Always love when I get to learn something new like this.

I have a girlfriend who is starting a retirement career reselling on eBay. She has admired my thrifted Coach from day one and will happily listen to me drone on about vintage Coach this or that (thank God!). She said I should write something or blog and I said, all ready been done on the Coach forum and there are women there that run circles around me on Coach knowledge.

Ya that's a really rich beautiful purple. I'd almost not dunk if it wasn't necessary unless that spot is going to really bother you.
My purple sling! In way better condition than I thought it would be, and no fading. It’s definitely a big bag but I love the color and everything about it. I’m currently debating whether to dunk it or not, it does have a stain on the bottom outside of the bag.
