I received my red day pack today and for the life of me I cannot explain why, but when I opened the box and saw it, I just burst out laughing, thinking what in the world is a 40+ year old woman doing trying to wear a teensy weensy red back pack. It was the most unexpected reaction to a bag that I've ever had. I had a horrible, horrible day at work yesterday and though today was better it was still enormously stressful, so it was such a relief to just laugh. Even if it made no sense, I just laughed. And then I stand there looking at the thing, glass of wine in hand, well on my way to being half in the bag myself, thinking that I don't freaking care if 40 year old women shouldn't be wearing microscopic back packs. I don't care. I love it and I'm gonna wear it and it's perfect for walking my dogs, which is what I bought it for. Does that make any sense?
Perfect sense.

Thanks whateve! Wayback confuses me but I should try to learn how to use it.

I recently typed up some instructions for @LunaSilver about how to use the Wayback Machine, see the links below.

This is how I have used it, but it is not always successful and others may have better methods (and I would love to learn them!)

Thanks @katev! Something for me to try while being stuck at home :)

Not Coach, however I picked up two fun vintage bags from two lovely ladies here in town. One was an exotic skin print and it immediately drew me in.

I'm doing a combination of dye and paint as I want it to have a two tone effect.
It was a hella stressful day so doing this helped lower my blood pressure a smidge.

You know, I had the exact same reaction to my daypack when I opened it. It was my first vintage coach purchase so I was looking VERY forward to ripping that box open. I had looked over the listing measurements many times so I knew it was only going to be 9x7 or around there, whatever the exact measurements are. But it was like my eyes were still shocked when I saw how small it was. It took me a few minutes of staring at it and handling it before I adjusted to it. My husband still looks at it like one of those teenager micro backpacks and actually said "please don't wear that anywhere." But honestly I loved the look of it no matter how small, and I do intend to use it one of these days on a weekend trip or somewhere like that versus carrying around a heavy purse over my arm. I just think it is shocking at first that it is not the size of a full size backpack that we are so used to. Would I want the full size version instead? All leather and probably heavy...probably not. I don't think I could keep it blemish free in the way I could the smaller one.
ETA I am sorry to hear about your day at work yesterday. I am glad that day is over and today you can start fresh today. Everything is so crazy right now but it will get better. Take joy in the things that give you joy and don't worry about 40+ or red or micro. I think those of us in this age range suffer from fashion rules that were ingrained into us in the late 80s and 90s by parents who dressed us as children with their fashion rules from the 60s that have been thrown smooth out the window. I feel like we are like awkward teens again stuck inbetween age-styles in clothes and accessories.

A lot of vintage Coach daypacks and backpacks are really small but some of them like the Legacy West Backpack 9827 from 2003 are a more practical size. It's not real big but a laptop fits inside it. See the link below for a red one that I restored and gave to my niece.

I love the look of the small size daypack. A large backpack looks utilitarian and the small one looks fashionable. I don't have one myself because it would annoy me to have to take it off every time I needed to get something - I like to see what I'm carrying, but I have handled one. When my daughter tried it on for me, it looked adorable. LV makes a backpack around the same size and people of all ages carry it. I don't consider my age when I carry my bags. I'll carry whatever I like. If other people think they are too young for me, I hope they won't tell me.

I don't think looking young is the main issue, just that such a tiny bag may not be very practical, although it would work for times when you just want to be hands free and carry minimal items.

I am not skinny (size 12) but I do sometimes wonder if a tiny bag will make a large person look bigger? Just my paranoia.

I don't know. Maybe another Ranch bag or something medium sized. I'm pretty picky about styles I like. I'm not in a big hurry. DH kind of yelled at me for buying another bag. I was just looking for a rehab project - it isn't even a style I really want.

ETA: I always forget - my suede watermelon tote is BT.
That's one bag I don't have. The ranch in BT. Lol.

Sometimes that is true. The first time I saw someone with a Sophia, I was surprised that a bag with dimensions that sounded like a medium large bag could look so small. When I sold one of mine, the buyer returned it because it made her look fat!

I have a small frame but sometimes small bags look ridiculous on me. Extremely large bags do too.

I'm 45, 5'7", and wear on average a size 8 (so kinda thick in some places like thighs and booty and not thick in others like arms and stomach). I carry mini backpacks and smaller bags all the time and never feel uncomfortable. In fact, I'm carrying a mini Hello Kitty Loungefly backpack today and am rocking it. I don't feel too old or too big for anything. There was someone on here who posted a mod shot with their pocket purse and mentioned she was petite, and you could tell because the purse looked like a different bag on her (think a Chanel Jumbo), but on me it looks like a WOC and lands at my hip. If I like it and it's functional for my lifestyle, I'm getting it. Bags can complement any body types and that's why I can appreciate any size bag on any size body!

I don't think smaller bags make people look bigger or smaller, so no need to be paranoid. If you like it, rock it like Lizzo.
