So apparently Pablo machine flagged every VAT form I had regardless the amount. I had a VAT form from Gallery Lafayette for a return amount of €200 and was flagged by Pablo (red). Out of 6 forms (only one form the value was above 10k), 5 forms red and 1 green. So it doesn’t matter anymore about how much amount on the receipt. Paris is so strict now after covid.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but we just came back from Paris. We have global entry and typically you declare the goods you purchased on the kiosk (yes to over $800) but this time it just scanned my face and printed the receipt, no questions to answer! First time for that.
Going back in Oct and want to understand how I am supposed to declare at LAX given there were no questions and they no longer give the paper on the plane? Anyone else have this experience?

Are you saying that you when you were at the kiosk, you didn’t get the screen with all the normal questions (eg foodstuffs, currency, commercial merchandise) or was it that all the other questions were on the screen to be answered, but not the question regarding the value of goods purchased?

Because if you weren't asked any of the normal questions, I would guess it was a glitch. They are very serious about every one of the questions, so they wouldn't skip them on purpose.

Not. Single. Question. We have global entry. The machine scanned our faces and printed a receipt, that was all!

I will be traveling to Europe in a couple of weeks and am hoping to get my first dream bag. In preparation for the trip, I'm trying to plan luggage as I will want to bring back all the packaging. Would someone be able to tell me the dimensions for the box that a Birkin 30 comes in? I want to make sure my carryon will have enough room. TIA!

the box of à hermès birkin 30 is quite big and « high » to be honest not sure it goes into a carry on. I would recommend you the carry it in the Hermès bag that they will gave you ( ask for a white one.)

The box should be too large for your carry on but what you can do is the following:
Empty the box of all tissue, pillows etc., then place it empty into your "to be checked" bag. Pack your clothing inside and around the empty box- it really takes up no room at all.
Place your new bag ( in its dustbag) in your carry on ( along with the receipts etc in your wallet to go to VAT and then for customs wherever you disembark.
Hope you have a wonderful time, regardless of bag adventures- just enjoy Paris!!
