US Customs discussion - airports, importing

Also ( although I can't IMAGINE the torture this would be to get) French customs will have a copy as well.
Global Blue is waiting for the stamped form to be posted to them and in the meantime they gave me a number & email to to inquire which I am now waiting for response. I’m just baffled WHY French Customs denied the form and disnt tell us right & instead waived us like everything was good.

Anyone have experience in the US receiving a bag from Canada? I’m looking to sell a bag to a US buyer and it will be fully insured, not sure the approximated amount and what customs and duties will incur? Thanks!

I’d love to know as well. A good friend of mine got a B30 from the Toronto boutique for me but I don’t know what’s the safest way to ship and how much duties I should be expecting to pay.

US Customs has a custom duties calculator online. There's some information here: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/internet-purchases

I've read that it's 6.5 percent for anything over $800 in value, but don't quote me on that. They'll tell you how much you owe.

More worrisome is that packages are sometimes opened and riffled by customs, and there can be significant delays. I bought an antique lamp from a Canadian seller and the package arrived having been opened and the contents in serious disarray. Customs hadn't bothered to carefully repack the lamp, just tossing all the metal pieces into the box. The seller said manhandling was typical for packages they shipped to the US.

I recently bought a Hermes scarf from a Canadian seller. It cleared US customs in Jamaica, NY within days but then sat at an international mail facility for six weeks.

It depends. Where are you located? FSH has shipped to me in different countries/ continents before.
May I know how the item is taxed when shipped to USA? May I also know if the price in Euro is priced pretax Euro price because it will be shipped out anyway like the airport price. Can you request for tax refund forms if they don’t? Sorry Im too shy to ask this to my SA. Thank u ;)

Just wanted to share that Paris shipped my SO from November last year via DHL to Singapore 3 months ago.
Hi! Did you ask for the special order or you were offered as a VIP client? Do you have an extensive buying history before being offered an SO? Thank you and I hope you don’t mind me asking ;-) Im hoping I can ask an SO to my SA someday in FSH.

They did the detax for me from Paris but I had to pay local Singapore import tax of 7%. I was also told only leather goods can be shipped so no exotic leather. My London bond street SA has also contacted me couple of weeks ago that they can ship only leather bags and small items to Singapore but no exotics. They can also do detax. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply, can you pls elaborate what detax means? Like do they give you the regular forms for tax refund then mail it or the price is already reduced when you paid. Thank u, you are so helpful

I was told by my FSH SA he can ship exotics, hence his offers but I haven’t decided on which. The shipment is automatically sent out tax free and I pay local import tax on arrival. London Bond St can send me whatever as I have family and a local address in the UK. I am not located in the US. HTH!

Prices on the website has taxes. Your SA will deduc 10% on the purchase price and ship the goods to you. You will then pay taxes in the USA

Last time I received a shipped leather item from Paris (GV not FSH) in the USA, the store did not charge the tax, but I was charged 20% when it came into the US.
You can't detaxe shipped items because the tax will already be removed. H MAY charge for shipping.

FSH shipped me a bag last month. The price in euros was pretax - my invoice with payment link showed the full price and then the pretax price and the 150 euro shipping charge. They shipped DHL and DHL cleared it through customs and billed me. Duty was 9% + there was a small fee to DHL for the service.

Thank you for sharing this info. May I ask if this was a SO or a quota bag?
