Update:

I was told by Vatche through my jeweler that they were discussing the ability to rework the head (it really is a two piece construction ring, head/shank, welded) to work for this ring, citing safety issues with the wire if it's raised.

However it seems everyone is out with the flu, no one would return calls or emails, today is the first contact in a week. Right now we're fully expecting them to tell us no.

So we are going to figure out a way to rework my w-ring so that I can still wear both. Until the rework that ring won't be worn, just the ering and plain band.

I hope to know more tomorrow and maybe have my resized ring back on Tuesday.

My jeweler emailed me with a list of ideas we can do in the event that they don't do the alteration. We will mess with the diamond wedding band instead and not mess much with the setting. I hold out hope that they'll do it but I am prepared for a hell no. Their reasoning is kind of "lame" thus far, in that they make it this way because they've always made it this way...uh. Ok?

But we'll rework or reset my diamond band as needed to be lower to the finger.

since we yet again heard NOTHING back, and this dude always emails back from his blackberry so we know he's getting them and not responding...my jeweler is going to PUSH about redoing the head or doing something. He said there's no excuse to blow us off for a week, and then say no. Their track record with timelines isn't going well. I get having people out sick, but tell me that before I have to call and email and chase you down!

I was with the jeweler tonight, though I didn't have my w'band with me, so I might go back to see him next week with it just for ideas. He's nervous to take anything off the inside of the ring for structural reasons but it might be done or reset. I have no idea what to do. I don't want it to poke me in the finger but I want it as low as can be so that it can't get to my e-ring!

As expected, they have declined to do any work to raise the head. So we are now going to figure out how to rework my diamond band to sit lower to my finger to hopefully prevent a little more of the eating issue. But I will likely just not be able to wear them together, even with a spacer.

Yknow, I would've been fine with that news had they told me within say, a few days of getting my ring. It's now exceeded 2 weeks of them blowing us off for them to tell us NO. That was pretty irritating.

Sorry to hear that Ame.

I'm thinking that Vatche stands behind their designs and products and therefore, refuse to re-work anything. They make settings to their standards of perfection. Perhaps they thought raising the setting would be too extreme. :confused1:

You're only alternative at this point is to go to another jeweller who doesn't conform to the same standards. I'm certain someone somewhere will raise this setting as high as you want.....but you might have to $$$

I agree with Contessa. I'm so sorry to hear that, I think that this is one of the downfalls of having a ring made sight unseen. But Vatche IMO makes beautiful settings and I can understand their reasons for not being willing to rework it. I think that the timetable they have presented is irritating, but it seems fairly normal by jeweler standards. Perhaps going custom from start to finish would have been the best option in hindsight! Best of luck though!

Oh I've seen this ring, I tried it on years ago. And my recollection of it was that it was FAR higher than this. All the photos I have of it are higher than it was made.

I have to say I think their reasons are bogus, I think they either are being egotistical or just didn't "feel like it". I don't believe for a solid second they think it's any way design related. And if they wanted to feed us a bogus response they maybe should've fed it to us two weeks ago. It's been excuses and silence instead. They actually had the nerve to tell me I should've gotten their "curved" matching band made instead of having another wedding band. Uh wrong answer!

Whatever!

This actual ring won't be reworked. It's going to just have to be how it is until I can sell it at a later date to someone who wants a lower setting and have it remade to my standards.
