^^So true! Makes me wonder if I should be examining my ring more closely for "errors."

Personally, I love lower profiles. I used to have a setting that was higher, and loved it. When I first received my new setting, I thought my ring looked like something that came out of a Cracker Jack box. But now, I love it. It's so easy and comfortable to wear. Most of the time, I don't even know that I am wearing my ring.

see I am WAY conscious now where I ever was before.

I am looking forward to having it recified. And really if they just build a 'bridge' under the wirework and adhere the head to that...that would work too. It would raise it up...just enough.

but I'm just expecting them to remake the whole 'head' taller.

I am taking the ring back to the jeweler today so it can go back for adjustments. He is going to ask that they fast-track it. They will fix the nick and the gashes in the "w", they will resize it up a hair (1/8-1/4 size) and they will adjust the height of the head about 1.5 to 2mm so that my diamond band cannot possibly eat the prongs--which has definitely occurred as I feared. There are two pretty major gashes. When I grip things (steering wheel for example) the diamond band smacks right into the W. I tried it on with a 3mm band I owned and it helped a bit but still bit into the setting which REALLY surprised me. I think the sizing and the raised head will definitely help.

I will say that I LOVE how the head is totally open. That really made the stone look amazing. There was a girl on the plane Sunday that was seated across the aisle from me who was staring at it for a good 30 minutes, easily, like a cat watching a laser pointer. It was HILARIOUS.

ME TOO.

The workmanship is amazing, so hopefully when I get it back it is on par. Seeing what my diamond band did to this thing in a week's time is making me think I should wait on a plain band and work on resetting the diamond band into a setting that won't eat another ring!

Ame, have you considered a channel-style wedding band? I tried one on yesterday & depending on how it's made, it can be STUNNING

With the channel band having a metal edge, it might protect your diamond e-ring more than a shared-prong.

I don't like them. I don't mind "bead set" but I am not at all a fan of channel settings. I don't care for how they obstruct the view of the stone and they are a nightmare to clean.

I don't know what I will do about my wedding band. I don't think these stones can be set any lower than they are. But if Vatche won't rework the head to work for me, I cannot wear the wedding band.

And I am awaiting a response from them to see if they'll do it how we ordered it at all. It isn't made to the specifications we asked so I am hoping they can either remake the whole ring or the head part the way we asked. I specifically said set HIGH. This is not high. This is low.

I'd consider going with someone other than Vatche. Go too high and you might lose the effect of the ring.

I love channel bands.......done well, they're GORGEOUS.

Have you considered a micropave band?

I don't know if I can return the Vatche. I don't know til he talks to them tomorrow about all the options on what we can do. Since they "customized" the setting from the standard stock, I might be stuck with it. I am prepared for them to tell me "tough noogies". I am going to see what they tell the jeweler tomorrow and figure out from there. The diamond band coming so close is the biggest issue. So...yea.

I do like certain kinds of micropave, but I have to work with the 5pter diamonds I have in my current band, so I am kind of limited as to what's possible. But I also cannot afford to do anything for a few months. So if they can't rework it somehow to make it useful, and/or won't refund the setting, then I will be stuck and won't be able to wear my diamond band with it til I can save the money to redo that band.

That would totally have been me, had I been sitting there!!

Hi Ame, I've been following your post. I have something similar to what you have. I really like this setting because I feel it really enables the brilliance, or sparkle of the diamond to show. I don't always like how the knife-edge prongs hide so much of the diamond, and love these delicate rounded prongs. It is not a high "in-your-face" setting, but I do think it is very classy and timeless, and it enables the diamond to sparkle from the sides. I also like how the prongs just go straight up as opposed to jetting out in a V shape. Will try and attach pictures. Also, mine might be set a little higher.
