I’m in need of guidance - I know many of you have bought from resellers and no issues, but I’m nervous and don’t even know where to start.

My husband told me to find a Kelly bag that I would like and i honestly haven’t even touched one in real life! I am pretty sure I want a size 28 but open to a 32. 25 or mini is likely out of my price range.

I’m in the Seattle area (Bellevue) and was wondering if anyone knows of any local sellers that have inventory they want to sell. I find it hard to believe there are no hermes Kelly’s for sale in this whole area! I don’t want to order from someone online because many of them say final sale and that’s just crazy of I haven’t even touched the leather or tried on the bag. Plus if it’s vintage, I have no idea how to know what’s good and what’s not.

Any ideas? Help! Please 🙏🏼

Fashionphile, Ann’s fabulous finds are two well regarded on line sellers in the US that take cc and returns.
You can authenticate prior to purchase using photos with @bababebi

I do not recommend instagram, Facebook, private resellers, or anyone who requires wire transfer. Most do not recommend the real real due to lack of returns. Some of us like Japanese resellers for deals but count on 10% more for customs plus possible applicable sales tax (though I don’t think many of us have been charged the latter)

For brick and mortar shops, there is an older list, found in the beginners guide to buying a birkin:

ETA: @ineedsomething , I strongly recommend that you visit a fashionphile or other showroom to try on various sizes and shapes. Bc you might think you are a neutral Kelly person but fall madly in love with a bamboo green birkin. There is also a thread that compares sizes against a person of average height. See this thread: particularly posts of member @ilovemylife

If you decide to go heritage leather vintage, the Lazarus thread of @docride is used by many of us to ask questions re if a Kelly looks too dry or is a good buy for its condition: here

Finally there is a huge difference between a 32 and a 28 K and a sellier versus retourne. Prices are dropping at resale, so you should be very sure and take your time.

Has anyone bought from or used the consignment service of Luxe Junky www.luxejunky.com (@birkinjunky on instagram). I would like to use their consignment service but cannot find ANY reviews except for a couple mentions - nothing about if it was a good experience, or anything, which is a red flag for me. They require I send them my bag and original receipt, so I would like to confirm if they are legit..

I so appreciate you taking the time to share this info with me! I am sure my post is redundant and repetitive so thank you for the grace. đź’—

I am in Seattle also. I don’t think many local resale stores have Kellys, I don’t think there is much of a resale presence in our area. I have consigned designer RTW before with the Refind closet in Madison Park, and they are the most likely to have a Kelly for you to try, but not likely multiple sizes and leathers to compare. If you can’t find a Kelly there, you are welcome to DM me and I will help you if I can. Otherwise, maybe wait to buy until after you go on vacation to a more shopping-friendly city with more resale stores so you can try on multiple bags.

Excellent advice from @880! I would add, take your time. The more info you have the better your decision will be. Have fun, it’s an exciting project :flowers:

I would advise against The Refind closet in Madison Park on the basis that they have used Entrupy for authentication in the past, which is known to not be accurate. Additionally, they have advertised "dupes" in their inventory which leaves a bad taste in the mouth given that are supposed to be a luxury consignment store.

The Nordstrom in Bellevue square has a booth for consigned Hermes handbags including Birkin and Kelly bags. I cannot vouch for their authenticity, however.

So recently discovered that a Hermes scarf (rare item) I purchased 5 years ago from Fashionphile is not authentic. Curious to see how long they “stand by” their items. I consider myself to be a pretty good customer with a long Fashionphile history and hopefully they can make this right for me. I did purchase when I was a little more trusting of resellers and this would never get past me now. I have not pulled this particular scarf out in years but did so recently when updating my insurance coverage.
Were you able to get your money back? I recently purchased a bag from FP and I am concerned it is not legit.
