I had a similar experience with a grail CSGM supposed to be new. It had lots of pulls. I called them and returned it but they made me pay the return fee… I didn’t buy from them after.

Disappointing experience purchasing online from TheRealReal.com It's the first time I've purchased from them: a "grail" (for me) CSGM that was listed as in "excellent" condition and priced accordingly. "Excellent" according to the RealReal's website means no signs of wear at all, just doesn't come with a box or the inventory tag. The shawl's actual condition, on arrival, was really disappointing. It has at least 8 thread pulls in it, the care tag is coming off, and it smells to high heaven like someone stored it in incense (yuck--why do people do that?). It's frustrating and irritating--the shawl is the "grail" for me and I'd only once before seen it up for resale, years earlier on e-bay for an over-the-top price, but the condition is less than desirable and I'm really annoyed with TheRealReal for listing this as "excellent" when at best it was/is in "good" condition (as in, mostly intact, not discolored). It seems I can return it, so I might do that. But I'm also concerned they'll accuse me of somehow ruining the shawl in the two days since it was delivered to me, rather than accepting that they misrepresented its condition on the website. And I've noticed their photos are not sharp enough to see the detail of thread pulls (and even the care tag partly coming off) and of course the photos aren't going to tell you that the scarf gives off a strong incense smell. I guess I'm just venting, but also sharing my experience of purchasing a shawl from TheRealReal.com in "excellent" condition that is actually far from that.

I purchased from them twice a few years ago. Both items were not as described and I returned them.

I usually have the bag in hand when I contact bababebi, primarily because I only purchase from established, reputable resellers and I’m willing to take on a fight should there be a problem with a return. I’ve never had a problem.

I would never wire money under any circumstances; the potential problems aren’t worth it.

I’m not on Facebook, and I don’t know why people do it either.

These are only my views based on my own experience but I would say that of all of the posts on this forum involving problems with authenticity after purchasing a bag from a reseller, the vast majority involve things like wire transfers, individual sellers, not doing enough research, and not asking enough questions/assessing any answers with a clear head. It’s not unheard of, but it seems that there are many fewer posts expressing complaints about purchases from established, reputable resellers. JMO, YMMV. :flowers:
@textilegirl Could you give us a list of the reputable resellers you use? Would be superfelpful. I’m looking for a Kelly 25 right now and terrified of getting a super fake, esp since I know it’s such a popular bag.

I certainly keep my eye on the usual resellers, and to be clear, I’m not in the market for any other of the very highly sought after bags such as the K25 or the mini Kelly. I think the BEST advice I would give anyone intending to purchase a bag at resale is to have the bag authenticated by a well-respected expert. Most tPF people consider bababebi to be the gold standard for Hermes authentication, and I have used her in the past and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. (For some reason that I do not understand some people seem to be reluctant to spend the additional money for an expert opinion. Given the expense of the total transaction I find that view short sighted to say the least.)

There are a number of resellers with physical locations who have been in business for more than a nanosecond, and who will allow returns, allow you to see the bag in person, and are accommodating with additional photos if needed. They are all mentioned in this thread. HTH :flowers:

interesting you say this, still searching for an Evelyne TRR just sent me an email, the pictures all look like the same bag
they should offer more pictures than they do considering one could be spend 3K and up for and unseen item
not sure if I would buy from them

have heard and read more bad than good about this company

Not sure where to post this, but please if anyone bought any of these two bags on vestiaire collective in Europe yesterday, please contact me.

These bags were stolen from my friend in Roma, three cars with 9 people took everything from her house last week (she had just moved and was away).

So any help you can give her trying to recover any of these two bags, it will be much appreciated.

She contacted vestiaire already, but they are saying they need to be contacted by French police. Then French police told her they need to be contacted by Italian police. Of course no one at Italian police wants to do anything on a weekend.

Time is of the essence because her bags are arriving for authentication soon (if they haven’t arrived yet, I don’t think she has much time if not done by Monday).

I don’t know how to crosspost this, and where would it go.

Thank you so much ❤️

Oh no. I’m so sorry. Good luck to your friend. I hope she can recover her bags. I hope that her house wasn’t too wrecked and covered by insurance. I’m glad no one was home to be hurt, threatened. Not sure if she should contact other reseller platforms. It’s my understanding that the police report is filed in the location of the incident, but I’m not an expert.

I wonder if there is a stolen items database for Hermes that she could add her items to. I recently had a VCA limited edition 20 motif necklace that was likely stolen and my sales associate sent me a link where I can add items from my collection and report if any of them are stolen along with adding photos/serial and the police report. It is an international database, and my SA told me that resellers and pawnshops are required to consult this database when an item comes in to them. I’m not sure how stringent they are about it, but at least it is something to do. I had the same experience as your friend, where my local police department and the police department where the incident occurred kept sending me back back-and-forth; each saying that the other was the one who would need to deal with it. The database I used is for jewelry and watches only within the Richemont company (brands like VCA, Cartier, Rolex); but if your friend sends a message to her sales associate perhaps there is something similar for handbags or for the Hermes brand.

I just bought a Birkin 30 in Togo 93 Orange. I was so excited to get my bag until the seller messaged me and ask if I wanted to get the same size bag but in epsom leather. I’ve always loved the slouchy and casual look of Togo so I don’t understand why seller is trying to offer me $300 to exchange my togo for an epsom. Anybody have experience with this reseller. Im already getting buyer’s remorse and I haven’t even received the bag. Her reasoning why she wants to offer me the epsom over the togo is that the original owner of the bag revealed that the pochette wasnt the original. I dont know anymore and now Im starting to question authenticity of everything. Please help.

@880 Thank you ❤️, her house was covered, but in general in Italy nowadays insurance companies do not cover bags, jewelry and watches anymore in new policies, too many burglaries and thefts. I had friends that were followed to their houses in Milano because of their watches. It is very dangerous now.

The bags were sold on Vestiaire Collective in Italy, but all EU is managed by VC in France.

@nicole0612 thank you ❤️, unfortunately H does not have anything similar. I am so sorry you had to go through that too, that is so stressful. 😢

Nowadays unless police is dealing with murder, child pornography/abduction and heavy drug shipments, they don’t care much, they say the are too busy for other cases. I heard that from a friend who is a federal agent, and it seems true. My father-in-law was scammed in a bitcoin scheme in Italy that targets seniors out of millions. I even argued with the detective, because all he told him was to move on. He did nothing basically. We kept telling him - look, this just happened in x, y, z towns, can’t you contact them, it is all over the news and nothing. He couldn’t care less.

I can totally understand your misgivings. I would also be worrying, not even because of the possible authenticity issue but because of the lack of professionalism. IMO, I would cancel your order and walk away completely, plenty of other resellers out there.

This is sus for sure. Sounds more like the seller didn't have the bag in hand and sent you generic pics, and actually it turned out to be Epsom.
We can't tell you if we have experience with this reseller because you didn't name them?!
