Plenty of threads on quota bags, including in different country's variables.

I am hoping for a quota bag, but want to spread out my spending. My aim is by September 2023. Do you think spreading the 1:1 ratio spend over two years (around $6K a year) is too long? Or should I do it all next year and aim for September 2022? Does it matter? Will this give me a shot at the B30 in black? If I do it all in one year, it might put me in a pickle w/ DH ($12K spend + $11K B30). One of the lifestyle purchase will be a CDC RG bangle ($7400). Thank you!

Definitely don't overspend beyond your means. Are you in SF or PA? The PA store seems to have a higher spend quota than the SF store, and also gets less inventory.

SF store. Thanks! We can afford it, it’s just shocking to a man who doesn’t value designers and handbags. That’s all.
Were it me, I would purchase the bracelet and maybe some other smaller things that you wanted and then ask for the bag you want.

I’m not saying this is proof of anything, but in the US, I have always gotten a bag offer suspiciously close to a fine jewelry purchase if not the same day, pandemic year aside.

Echoing the fine jewelry, especially since you want to get it anyway. I've gotten a B after buying a watch (that I wanted anyway), plus bags/scarves/SLGs. I've also heard buying RTW helps your profile, but I've never bought it. It definitely helps to develop a good relationship with your SA. A lot of people like the SF store, it is a beautiful store with lots of inventory, but I only get good treatment there when I'm dressed well and I have my B.

Out of curiosity were these are high value fine jewelry purchases? Or some lower than the CDC rose gold bangle? Just wondering whether it's the dollar amount that's unlocking the bags more than the category...

Can you share which US stores you received quota bag offers after fine jewelry/watch purchases? Thanks!

You were not directing your question to me, but I wanted to chime in here (of course, with the caveat that we all have different relationships with our SAs and our stores, and that DH and I only buy stuff that we really love and would buy anyway, without an offer). i did happen to receive an offer that i accepted (and two that I passed on) after DH bought a travel watch that Hermes just came out with, an H08. (this is not solely our characterization; I believe H markets this as their version of a travel watch also) Based on our experience, I do not think it’s the dollar amount per se that results in an offer; however, DH and I also make regular purchases across most categories. (since I have an H bag and scarf collection already, new bags, SLGs, scarves, and shoes account for our lowest percentage spend)

(The H08 will be the base model of the new watches going forward; Hermes is part owner of a company that does the watch parts, and H corporate is excited about this new category). I also want to note, the watch itself is not super expensive relative to fine jewelry with diamonds. But, the SA and DH often discuss watches, and DH mentioned the hodinkee H08 review before the boutique ever received any of the watches. And, SAs (at brunello, Hermes and Dior) are super pleased when both DH and I end up shopping from them. (DH is picky about his clothes lol and is the primary acct at brunello; i am the primary at Hermes and Dior, but we enjoy shopping together). in addition to RTW, we also buy in home furnishings. I do not have a wish list bc I’m not necessarily after the hottest quota bag. IMO, it’s our relationship with our SA, rather than the store, that results in an accepted offer.

I agree with the above post from 880. I don`t think it is particularly the amount you purchase for but also if they see you as a potential long term customer, your interest in what they offer and your behaviour. Personally I purchase throughout the categories and always have done so. My first K came after a total spend of about 2000 euros 7 years ago. Hermes truely has so many beautiful items on offer in their different categories so take your time and browse and make a list. Please only purchase what you love and you won`t regret it.

PA. I spent more money than I care to admit, I kind of cringe about it now since I have a baby and I budget my money differently now. I live vicariously through you all. Stick with SF, they have more stock and I think a lower spend threshold than PA. Share your love for the products, they don't want to see someone who's only into B/K/C (nothing wrong with expressing your love for it). I shared what I did for work, my family life, etc. with my SA, who I got along really well with. Having an SA that you get along with is key. Some are more down to business and that's preferable for certain customers. Some like SAs that are more friendly/chit chatty. There's no magical formula to getting one (but spending money in different categories definitely helps).

At the same time, if you really want a B/K/C, consider going the reseller route, you shouldn't have to spend money on other things if what you really want is the quota bag. But then that's just the H game.

Thank you for your response. This is great advice. I really appreciate it. The H fine jewelry really fits with my style, and I have been eyeing the CDC RG bracelet for awhile now. I finally considered it for a round birthday gift. I also had several smaller pieces of fine jewelry on my radar. The B/K/C didn't even cross my mind because it never occurred to me that I can ever get one! But this lovely forum brought to my attention that I might be able to get a quota bag if I was purchasing all those things anyway! So, it is more like an expensive bonus at the end of the road. Thanks everyone for all the help!

The CDC RG bracelet is gorgeous! I’m not really a jewelry person but that’s really beautiful. Have you asked your SA about stock? You can at least try it on if it’s already there.

May I have your advice? My SA just left for maternity leave until the end of Dec and referred me to new SA. I had spent money enough for quota already and was waiting for quota…. She told me new SA would continue to help me with that. I don’t know how to approach this to the new SA. Any advice will be appreciated. FYI, I have known my SA since 2019 and she has been very nice and super. Thank you very much for reading this.

Make an appointment with new SA if you happen to have time to browse and/ or want anything new and just say you have been hoping for “XYZ combination” and you are hoping it arrives soon. Easy. It has always worked for me and it’s better to be clear and direct.
