I am just wondering how hard is it for the SA to oder something for you? I have been looking for couple of things at the local store, but every time I asked, my SA (PA) always said it's sold out. Since I really wanted the item, I decided to call another H store in the east coast. Apparently the item was not SOLD OUT as I was told by my local shop. The SA in the East Coast was more than happy to order couple scarves for me.

Should I just start buying remotely from the SA in the east coast? Would it be possible to build up my profile with SA that are thousands miles away from the city I live? TIA

Do you all cut off the tags sewn on your scarves and twillies? Or do you keep them on and just hide them when folding?
I noticed a tag was dangling on one of my scarves, so when I carefully snipped it off with small scissors, I realised how much I enjoyed it without a tag to worry about different folds/angles. Now I can freely utilise all 4 corners for different knots. So since then I've been just removing tags before I use them.

Does this kind of “coded messaging” (SA saying it’ll take a very long time to get a specific item) also apply to non-quota items? Or could one expect more direct communication?
For non quota the communication between SA and you should be taken a little more direct. There really isn't any other reason other than it being sold our for you to not be able to buy one. Ask them to play an "order" for that particular item so that they call you when the item arrives. Be mindful that placing the item on "order" is different from ordering the item...they'll understand.
May I have your advice? My SA just left for maternity leave until the end of Dec and referred me to new SA. I had spent money enough for quota already and was waiting for quota…. She told me new SA would continue to help me with that. I don’t know how to approach this to the new SA. Any advice will be appreciated. FYI, I have known my SA since 2019 and she has been very nice and super. Thank you very much for reading this.
Communicate with the SA that is taking care of you on your SA's behalf. They should be able to offer you a bag as well given that your purchase history is strong.

If the item(s) are "sold out" then you can always ask the SA to place the item on "order" for you as well so that they can call you when the item(s) arrive. There's nothing wrong with being proactive as well so good for you! You can always shop with another SA via remotely. My recommendation is to try and purchase multiple items so that you're able to save a lot of time and effort as well as give the SA an incentive as to why they should give you the time of day rather than someone who's there in person. I know it sounds wrong but lets be honest, most people wont take a phone order for one item over a walk in for the same item.

Hi,
I got an offer for a Kelly, but am currently on vacation, thus cannot pick it up myself. Is it possible to send a relative, who is also a client at the same Hermes store, to pick it up for me?
TIA
Your SA would be the only person able to accurately answer this for you. Typically, no, you would need to be the person picking it up and paying for it, however some stores are willing to make exceptions for some clients.

Last month, I saw an SA showing her client a bag over facetime while her relative/friend was there to pick up/pay for the bag.

Mr. Ex, thank you for all the insights here! I am in US east coast, and I have 2 questions:

1) Are shoes purchase as favorable as RTW, or not so much?

2) How hard is it to get Kelly Pochette? Are we talking about 3:1 pre spend in favorable department (RTW, Fine Jewelry, Home/Baby) plus 1-2 years of wait?

Thank you!

It's usually only to the person who's been approved to purchase the bag. If you're not away for months they will typically hold it for you until you can go in and purchase the bag yourself. Speak with your SA for available options.

Shoes aren't necessarily favorable than RTW but they def help your profile. RTW > Shoes however. It's difficult to say because of the stores allocation. Pochette are hard to come by hence why they are difficult to get. Same with Kelly Mini. I would recommend at least a 1:1 ratio for a K30 or above to get a pochette. Unless you've been a long time customer then I think your SA should be ok with offering a Pochette between quota bags.

Hi! I have been looking at Hermes for a while and have recently started my collection (mostly accessories). I live in NY but recently went to the Hermes location at King of Prussia. I bought two belts from the SA there and really liked how kind/informative she is. She also gave me her business card as I mentioned to her that I would like to purchase from her in the future.

Do you recommend continuing to build my profile with her even though she's quite far from me? Most of my purchases will probably be remote as I probably won't get the chance to visit often.

Also, if I would like to purchase from her, is it possible for her to have the item shipped to an Hermes store close to me?

Thank you! Reading this thread is so informative.

NY has so much more inventory than KOP. Bags and SLGs are not easily shipped per policy at most stores and no they would not ship it to another store, they would only ship to your personal address. Quota bags are even less likely to be shipped and would probably require you to go to the store in person. Also, thanks to covid and low inventory/ high demand/and reduced store hours, just getting an SA to respond to a remote client in a timely manner has been suffering. Seems the company is prioritizing in-person sales at the moment, hopefully this will turn around eventually but unless demand/new clients takes a nose dive, I can’t figure out the math to make that happen. All this is to say, for a long term relationship, I would definitely try the closer, bigger, easier store (NY) to see if you can find an equally great SA there before committing to the long distance.

I’m long time customer recently they could not find me in database. Their answer? Protection of data in accordance with EU laws and erasing the shopping history. (FSH, same answer at Sevres) How are they checking then who bought what and when then?

Thank you for your response! I should probably also mention that I wanted to purchase at KOP since it is tax free for a lot of items I wanted to purchase. Although, I know that Short Hills is a closer location to NY with the same option. I just wanted to keep a consistent Hermes SA as I don't believe I'll be spending a large amount (at least not right now).

At the moment, I'm not shopping to buy a Birkin or Kelly... in a few years I would love to... but right now, I just love their accessories and am content with mostly buying those. Possibly a SLG sooner also.

As NYC is such a big city, I imagine that it would be harder to get a quota bag if you're competing with a lot of the big spenders and long time clientele. Would it be better to shop at a less busy store? (Unfortunately my closest store is Manhasset and it's a franchise/the SA who gave me her number stopped responding.)

Hermes allocates bags (and all other stock actually) by the store’s budget which is determined by prior sales amounts for that store. So the more people that shop at a store and the more they spend, the more inventory that store will have. It all boils down to the same thing statistically. And, H only puts stores in communities that can support them (ie every time I hear “there are so many wealthy people in city X that I have no chance there” I cringe a bit because there are many super wealthy people in every H region…) There are only, what, two or three? H stores south of NY/NJ and north of Florida to theoretically serve all of the mid Atlantic coast so KOP has plenty of strong customers, I’m sure. Also, someone in an H FB group did an informal survey last year asking people where they successfully got a quota bag and Madison NYC was the top/easiest store, even beating Paris, after hundreds of votes (albeit the group is mainly US centric). :shrugs:
PS if they are shipping items to you in NY, NY sales tax will prevail so you won’t get that savings anyway.

IMO only, the two reasons to keep a consistent SA is for best quality service and to eventually build a profile for a future quota

It has been my experience in NY that a less busy store will simply have less to offer and more competition than a flagship. It could be a longer wait if you want a high demand quota bag, but if you are flexible, it’s not an issue. Whether you get a quota offer that you accept is more a function of the strength of your individual SA relationship than sky high spend. Find an SA; be consistent, realistic, communicative, patient, pleasant, and polite, and you will get an offer, no matter the so called competition. Even in NY.

I have not been to Wall St recently, but I just visited MTP out of curiosity, and there is far less merchandise. However, if you need shoes, MTP shoe area has better air conditioning; is more airy, and is less claustrophobic than the attic shoe area at Madison (Honestly, if I recall correctly, decades ago, when Madison used to be a Limited, I think they put their sale merchandise thst no one wanted up there)
