Saskia, Your bags are lovely and oh so classic.

Thanks!
I got my new bag thursday and I am in heaven.

Been thinking a lot about my bags and I need something else, maybe something with color, something a little more fun. I'm not really into big logos cloth bags or something that everyone else has. My collection worked well with my daily life when I was working at a law firm, but now that I am a part-time, work from home, trying to get out of the legal field type of attorney my style has deteriorated to T-shirts and jeans. Suggestions anyone? I also need to learn how to rotate and not carry the same bag every day for five years.

I just received my first Tod's bag! A Restyled D-bag in black pebbled patent leather. Got a great deal on it at eluxury. Retail: $1550. Paid: $868 with no tax and free shipping. The bag is beautiful and I love the patent look as I think it looks more interesting than a plain black tote.

There are some details that I didn't notice until I saw the bag IRL. There is no oval Tod's emblem on the front of the bag and where the handles attach to the bag, the metal rivet is close to the top, near the D ring. On most of the restyled D-bags I've seen on-line, the rivet is lower on the base of the handle, placed on top of a stitched line and the handle base is a slightly different shape than mine. All of these things combined make me think the bag doesn't quite look like a Tod's and I hate to keep it if it just looks like any other ordinary brand.

I actually started to worry that the bag wasn't authentic, but found an old image of the same bag on Neiman's website and anyway I know that eluxury only sells authentic bags. So, I'd love to hear what other people think because I just can't decide whether or not to keep it.

I own several D-bags, including this particular model, and I think your bag is authentic. Not all of my Restyled D-bags have the oval Tod's logo on the front, only some. Can you post some photos of any interior markings/stamps?

Juilletdix, I love your new turquoise besace! I've been looking for a blue bag and love that color. Can I ask where you got it from? I'm from the Chicago area, too, but live in the burbs so I haven't made it downtown to the Tod's on Oak St yet.

It looks good. But just to be sure, I'd need to see the interior markings and the back of the tod's hang tag. that would give us a better indication.

The bag is definitely authentic. Everything inside is as it should be and I ordered from a reputable site. I just wasn't aware that there are so many different styles of this bag. I guess the point I was trying to make is that the little details that are missing in the style I bought are details that to me make a D-bag look like a D-bag.

So my question is not really about authenticity (sorry I wasn't clear in my previous post) as I have no doubt that mine is authentic, but more about the style I bought. It sounds like you have several different styles, including the one I bought. Do you prefer one over the others or do they really look pretty much the same to you? I know this sounds crazy, but I am all about the little details!

Swezfamily, TODS makes subtle changes every year, like automakers... There are different colors, but on the classic colors they will make sutble changes like leave out the little oval. Personally, I prefer a bag without all the screaming logos. TODS logos are mot screamers but they are there..

The bag is beautiful and typical of a TODS, it is a very pratical design. I think the Restyled D is a classic and will look good for many years. If the lack of logos is going to bother you and prevent you from wearing it, send it back.

Thanks for posting pictures and pointing out the subtle differences, this will help other members here identify authentic TODS.

Enjoy!
Cheers,

hi can i check if it is possible for Tods bag to have riri zippers instead of Lampo zippers?

thank you in advance :)

I have only ever seen one style of TODS with riri zippers. I believe it was a style made and sold by the outlet.
Post some pictures of the bag and I can see if it is the same style I saw before.

Hope that helps!
Cheers

Actually, the absence of the TODS oval emblem on the front doesn't bother me so much, but I do prefer the styling of the handles on the current restyled D-bags. I'm loving the texture and look of the leather on mine though, so I'll probably keep it and I'm sure I'll eventually come to love the handles too.

Thanks for the reassurance!

I wanted to post some pictures of the inside of my bag for future reference. It is almost impossible to get a decent picture of stampings on patent leather. I tried with and without the flash and these were the best results. :smile1:
