Sounds crazy but I use plasma TV cleaner. I asked my jeweller and he said that its fine. Nothing has ever made my rings shine as nicely as that. I use it on my engagement and wedding rings, which are diamond and white gold. I haven't tried it on any others.

Swanky mama> whts canned air?

I use handsoap or washing detergent to clean my jewels. Just soak and take them out to dry and it'll sparkle. I better check if there's ammonia now that u mention.

Here you can find some basic information on how to care for your jewelry.
The most important thing you should do when you receive jewelry from anywhere is to clean it.Your best bet is to use Antibacterial soup and Water to thoroughly clean the jewelry.Do not use alcohol or any chemical to clean or sterilize the jewelry or components due to the possibility of discoloration or adverse reaction to the material.Like teeth or fabrics, jewelry can be discolored or affected by ingested chemicals such as alcohol, mouthwash, cigarettes smoke, chlorine, soups, foods and/or drinks.

I use conniseurs cleaner. It has a tray and little brush in the round container. It works very nice on my diamond. I've heard a little dish soap and amonia from one jeweler and windex from another.

I use old toothbrush and toothpaste. I also use the sonic cleaning device
a colleague taught me to soak the jewelry in a toothpaste solution and then use toothbrush to clean it thereafter

I use Tiffany's jewelry cleaning kit and it works great. I've been using it for years. When the solution become cloudy, it means it's time to get a new one. Very easy to use.

My husband-to-be owns a jewelry store so I pop my things in the ultrasonic and then steam them when I'm there. However, when it's been a long time in between cleanings, my Capresso coffee maker does the trick. After I've brewed my coffee, I just turn it over the "Steam" before I turn it off. I usually have to hang my ring, tennis bracelet or earrings from the tines of a fork to avoid being burned, but it really does a great job.

Let me ask a dumb question: I am always afraid to leave my diamonds at the jewlers even for a cleaning.. afraid they may switch my stone. Is that nuts?

not at all! i only go to birks, a v respectable jeweller and they clean it right in front of u. otherwise i have only left it there for sizing and at the jewellers who made it for cleaning and polishing.

I used to use an ultra sonic machine with diluted Windex, but I noticed I got the same results just by soaking it in the diluted Windex. I just soak in Windex & water, then dip it in a bowl of water to "rinse" it, then dry it off with a paper towel. Works well for me.
