^^^ I've heard that too. Also, I have lots of emeralds, which aren't supposed to be put in an ultrasonic thing.

I clean my ering/wedding band with GemCare (no ammonia) every morning - just let them sit in there while I do my makeup and hair. If they're especially dirty or caked up with lotion, etc, I give them a little rub with a soft toothbrush. For when I'm not wearing my everyday rings (including ering/wedding band), I keep a Waterford ring holder on the bathroom counter, and put my diamond studs in the base of the ring holder as well. In a pinch (like on vacation), I use toothpaste and a little tiny toothpick brush (the kind they sell with dental floss - teeny little brush for between teeth, which takes hardly any room in my travel kit) to clean my diamonds.

^use with ammonia--my "recipe" is hot water, dawn dishwashing soap, and a splash of ammonia--let soak and scrub with baby toothbrush--works great on diamonds--have to watch colored gems as some of them are softer and need special care.

actually, it dependson what metal your ring is.
If it's white gold, don't use ammonia, it can speed up the yellowing on white gold.
It's fine for platinum.

I've been using a teeny drop of dish soap - to cut oil, grease and grime w/ a cup full of Mr. Clean in my Sharper Image ultrasonic cleaner.

I dry w/ a towel and use canned air to dry it completely.

My ring is white gold, with a row of prong set round and oval diamonds, and a row of pave set diamonds. I know that you said to be careful with the pave set diamonds as well.

If my ring is white gold, can I use the Mr. Clean, because I thought Mr. Clean has ammonia in it?

great ideas, ladies!
I would never think of it. Here in Sweden thejeweller charges you for cleaning the ring. It's not expensive, but still. Bad service ;)
Well... I would love to clean my new ring once or twice a week.
It's white gold with diamonds. hat do you think I can use? Dish soap and hot water? Doesn't it ruin the stones or the gold? What about the stone in the middle of my ring? Will it get destroyed? Or maybe a bit loose?

Here is the ring.

Thanks ;)
