oops. I tried cleaning solutions, helps a little but I've been blasting my solitaires with an electric toothbrush???
I actually have both- some diamonds set in gold which could stand to be cleaned a lot more often than I do it, and some solid gold pieces without stones. When I take the solid gold earrings to Tiffany's, they say that they "steam" them. I do have some jewelry cleaner (the stuff in the red jar) but I would like a non-chemical way to keep my jewelry clean. I will look into the JewelJet, thank you! Guess I'm still on the hunt for a way to clean the solid gold, though.Elle, are you steam cleaning diamonds set in gold, or just plain gold jewelry? I believe steam cleaning is the recomended method to clean diamonds without damaging the gold setting. But steam cleaning is not really the ideal method to clean plain gold jewelry. The Machine is called the "JEWELJET". Here is the web address http://www.jeweljet.com/?gclid=CNWl4avs4JECFUd4OAodwRpVfg. It costs $99, but like everything else, you may be able to find one on ebay for less. IMO it really mimics the high pressure steam machines used to professionally clean jewelry, and the results are similar to a professional cleaning. IMO. And best of all it only uses water, although I sometimes rinse my diamonds in a little Windex Glass Cleaner before using the JEWELJET.

so this thread just made me go clean my ring. wowza. it's amazing what a difference it makes!!
i use a blue ammonia cleaner that's similar to the red connesiuers but smells better. i actually prefer the warmer white gold look and don't mind if the rhodium wears off.

LOL! Bet you can't keep your eyes off of it! That sparkle is like a magnet for the eye!I don't mind the yelloish tinge of the gold but I will avoid the erosion if I can. If and when the rhodium does wears off (and hoefully it takes a long time) I don't know that I would replate it (which you can have done).

I have a white gold ring that was worn everyday for 10 years and it's still 100% white, never neeed replating.
I think it depends on the mix and your body's chemistry.
WOW---how do you clean it?
