1.77ct E/VS1 $39100.
1.96ct F/VS1 $38600.
1.76ct E/VS2 $35900.
1.65ct E/VS1 $34000.

Woohoo - I'm so glad you're going with Tiffany - the ring is one thing I have never regretted spending (my DH's!) money on!
I think Swanky brings up a good point... the big price point jumps for diamonds are typically at every 0.5 of a carat - so a 1.96 will be noticeably cheaper than say a 2.04, and the 1.92 and 1.96 will be quite comparable.

I personally would go for the larger F stone, given that the difference is not huge. The color difference between the E and F is really hard to tell... heck, when we were looking, I couldn't tell a D from an F!

Keep us posted on what you go with - congrats again... she's a lucky lady!

So ladies..size does matter!? :biguns:  :flowers:

LOL - yes:p
Seriously though, I would not compromise a crappy cut/color for bigger weight - I have seen some nasty "diamonds" over 2 carats, but they were so ugly that I would take my 1.4 Tiffany any day.

But at the specs you're looking at, you're going to get a gorgeous stone. I mentioned above about how Tiffany's price point jumps are - that is why I would take the plunge if you're spending that much anyway.

Yes. As long as you get a ring that follows the 4 Cs -- cut, color, clarity, and carat -- you can find diamonds that have the same quality (again, my opinion, other opinions will differ  ).

Hubby and I did exhaustive research on the topic before we bought my ring. The same style ring I have would have cost three times more at Tiffany. But again ... no offense meant to those with Tiffany rings.
Yes, IMO I think just like you- but when my bf decided to get me a Tiffanys after his 4 month research and us going all over town just looking at diamonds- well, of course I couldn't say no...never in my dreams would I have thought of having one, moreso actually asking him for one. Anything he would've gotten me, I would have loved..Well..It's in NY being sized..I'll post pics soon when it arrives next week.
:)

So after viewing 3 of 4 diamonds listed above (the 1.77 was at an appointment) my SA and I were in agreement that the 1.76 E/VS2 was the diamond of choice. I liked the fact that the 1.76 had a almost perfect cut, excellent polish & symmetry, had no flourescence, no culet, and a thin-medium girdle. The sparkle of this diamond even when hidden was totally awesome. It will look amazing on my sweetie's tiny finger!!!!! We are going to see if the 1.77 E/VS1 would be available after this weekend just to make one last comparison. So I will know sometime next week which diamond I will end up purchasing! Very exciting times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :supacool:
Go Buckeyes:biguns:

i think you can get the same quality and size for less somewhere else. with tiffany you are also paying for the name.
the problem is you need to know where to look and you need a jeweler you can trust. i think it's a lot cheaper to buy the diamond and have the setting made.

:welcome:

I ended up purchasing a 1.76 E/VS1 from Tiffany's for a little under 40K. It is an amazing diamond and will look fabulous on my sweethearts tiny finger! I must have compared 20+ diamonds within the parameters I specified and when I got down to the final two it basically became a coin toss. Since I was born in Jan 1976 I chose the 1.76!! Superstitious no but this way she'll never forget my birthday lmao:-)

GO BUCKEYES!!!!!

Congratulations for your purchasing.

Just curious the way of payment for big amount jewelry. Can we use creidt card to pay off in store, or cash/credit card combinations?

If you have a high credit score Tiffany's requires 25% down and then you have interest-free financing for 12 months. You can pay by credit card or cash/personal check as well. You could still get financing if your credit score is average but you will have to put a higher percentage down. Make sure when applying for credit that you submit your application back to your SA so he/she can make sure the credit department knows that you are making a big purchase so they can give you an appropriate credit line. Otherwise they will assume that you just want to make a "regular" purchase and will give you a $5000 credit limit.

I put 25% down and did the interest free for 12 months.

Good to know, thanks for the info.:wlae: :wlae: :wlae:
