^ Well, obviously he would. What's the point of emphasizing how "omg" YOU never would...this is the purse forum. People do it with bags, why not with diamonds? Is that to make the person feel bad? So pointless. :wondering

Michael, congratulations. Can't wait to hear about your proposal story! Are you still planning to do it tomorrow? :D
I never used OMG. I wrote THREE TIMES that it was MY HUMBLE OPINION. I never intended to make him feel bad AT ALL. He asked for OPINIONS & I gave him MINE.

Sorry that you read so far into it. Not what I was getting at. If I asked for someones opinion thats what I would expect to get.

Michael asked, not you. Maybe you shouldn't be so personally invested in somebody elses thread.

Yes, Congrats Michael, I hope the purchase is right for you & that you both enjoy it immensely!

Your tone by shouting certain words is not appreciated. This may be Michael's thread but there are many girls on here who love Tiffany diamonds, are planning to get one, or have one. The way you talked down making such a choice was pretty lame.

Chill out.

I never spoke down to anyone & AGAIN it was MY opinion. I don't care if you chose to buy a ten carat solitaire from Tiffany's. I don't give a flying you know what about where people chose to spend their money.

IT ASKED ME FOR MY OPINION & I GAVE MINE.

BTW, I'm one of those girls w/ a tiffany diamond. It was given to me after an aunt died. Its a little over 2 carats & basically flawless. Would I have bought it myself? NO!
That's the whole point of my post!

Maybe you should just drop it & stop being so concerned w/ others threads & posts.

Maybe you should but out!

I only have a quick moment, but let me clarify a few things for some of the ladies.

I came from a middle class family, so most people in my family can't comprehend me spending 40K on a ring that equals there annual income (per person). I worked my butt off to get where I am so I don't really care what anyone thinks.........If I wanted to buy a 2.25 for an extra 20K I would have, bought I can't justify the extra money.

I did ask for opinions and appreciate all of them. Not everyone likes Tiffany's and that's okay. I personally don't like BMW's, I like Mercedes AMG. That's my opinion. Now if I said people who drive BMW's are idiots, that would make me look like an idiot (I obviously don't think that btw). Same thing with anything else.

The fact is my honey loves the Tiffany Solitaire. We have seen and tried them all, that happens to be her favorite. It's all about her. She was hoping for a 1.2 carat, I got her a 1.95. I would have purchased whatever it was she wanted. IF she wanted a wal-mart ring well ok lets not kid ourselves lol!

So thanks for all the help, no offense ever taken, and everyone enjoy Independence Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just because someone says they don't like tiffany's and would never get buy from there because you're paying a lot more for the name (which is true), doesn't mean they're saying that those who do love tiffany's are idiots. chill. or maybe you should stay away from the internet if you're going to take people's opinions so personally.

Hello,

I finally got around to taking pictures of my sweetheart's engagement ring.
1.95 carats
E color
VS1 Clarity
Depth 60.9%
Table 59%
No culet or flourescence
Precision of cut, symmetry and polish are all excellent.

Thank you everyone for your advice/opinions along the way. You were all a great help.

Have a nice holiday season!

Michael

Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase my g/f an engagement ring in the near future. I am seriously considering buying a 1.65 E/VS2 Round Brilliant from Tiffany's for $34,000. I also looked at the following: 1.38=$22,000, 1.77=$40,000. My g/f wears a size 5.

It seems like you get what you pay for. I have looked at many other places (BlueNile) etc and it seems that most places accept flaws in their diamonds that Tiffany's does not. The rings I looked at Tiffany's sparkled like there was no tomorrow, even when i took them out of the lights.

Ladies, am I crazy for spending this kind of money for a 1.65 carat at Tiffany's or is the quality/warranty etc really worth it?

Your honest opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Before you buy a diamond, might be worthwhile to go to www.pricescope.com for some diamond knowledge. The site is full of information on what to look out for when buying diamonds and gemstones. Good luck!
