Are you sure you want a solitaire? It sounds like you are leaning towards the soleste. From the title of your thread, soleste lovers are not going to comment - they will think this is a round diamond solitaire search.

I say go with what you like. Don't let this forum dictate what you want. There's a lot of people that love Van Cleef in this forum, but not a lot of people who like to wear Van Cleef. Wear what you love. :smile1: Usually the right diamond will sing to you and you'll love to look at it everyday from the day you wear it.

Good luck!

The search for the solitaire came back and they were great. Affordable and larger carat sizes than I thought. We are going in tomorrow and I will try my best to get pictures. I had tried the soleste with a band and I wasn't as wowed by it than I was with the classic with two diamond bands on either side. It has always been between one and the classic. The one comparing has always changed... I will let you all know what happens!

I can't wait to hear! If you want any input on solitare stones let us know!!! I personally find the solitaire FAR more classic, and more versatile, you can change bands for new looks!

I would LOVE opinions on the solitaire. I will always love the solitaire, so it's hard for me. I feel it's a little bit simple for me though. I love the flashy look of the soleste. But then again, I think I prefer the solitaire with a band, but not the soleste. I can't wait to go! I hope we can get some pictures today too. They never let us!

I would LIKE to think if you are buying and they know you are serious buyers, they will. Just get details and we'll narrow them down!

The plus to the simplicity is really just variety. Goes with everything. Jazz with bands.

Hello everyone! Ok, we went in and finally met the women that I have been emailing for a while now. She was amazing and actually spoke just like my grandmother! That was comforting... :)
Anyways- we finally decided on the soleste! The largest they had was 1.07 and the smallest was .74. We looked at all of them, including a .82. I was surprised when the 1.07 was taken out, that I loved the .82! From the searches we have done the ones here (in Canada) are :
1.04 ct. I colour VVS2 clarity

1.07 ct. H colour VVS2 clarity, this one is two thousand more.

She is going to do a search in the .90+ range for us and we will have those results hopefully Tuesday. If anyone has any input on the two above that would be great! I will also keep posted about the next search.

- we were not able to take any pictures because of the privacy policy in Canada, but thats ok. I hope to have it on my finger soon!!!

I had a feeling your heart was set on a soleste. There's a thread about it in here. It may give you some pointers. http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewelry-box/white-diamond-sola-tiffany-ring-655624-15.html

My local Tiffany used to have a bunch of soleste. Surprisingly, they only have really small stoned ones (0.4 ct) on display now. I didn't know they have really small stoned ones.

There's no such thing as excellent/excellent/excellent with cushion cut diamonds. It only comes up to "very good" since the cushion cut is considered a fancy cut.

I think you'll get more compliments on the soleste versus the solitaire. The solitaire is pretty common while the soleste looks very unique and has a big finger coverage. I first noticed a similar style of this ring from this blogger: http://www.lovemaegan.com/search/label/my nails

Have fun with your selection and congrats!!

I will get James to email the SA and find out more and hopefully it's still available!
Wow that ring on the blog is beautiful! Ive always loved the HW micro pave, but I'm more of a Tiffany girl. I will let you know what comes back :)

I never knew this. Is it true of all fancy cuts, no higher cut grading than very good? I have been a little bit sad that my pear is not triple ex lol.

I just have a question. My boyfriend and I wanted to get a ring that was higher than a carat. If we went somewhere other than tiffanys we were looking 1.7-2.0 carats. But now that we are looking at a ring with a double halo, let alone one halo, we are looking into much smaller center stones. We tried on the .82 that I really liked and are doing a search for a .90+
Does anyone think that that size is a little small? I know that isn't what matters at all, but I'm having a hard time letting go of having a carat to going under a carat.
