ANNNNNND they just lost a third item of mine. This is 3 individual items from 3 separate boxes...I think someone in their warehouse is indirectly using me as a personal shopper. I'm just shrugging because every time something gets lost they give me an immediate payout and I don't even have to wait 14 days for my funds. They probably need better security or employee screening though. I will continue to use them as long as they continue to rectify the problems with minimal effort on my part though.
How do you agree on a payout of a missing item? Do I understand correctly that it gets lost before it's listed?

2 of the items got lost after they photographed them, but before they listed them. They had already assigned a price to those items (which were at or higher than I was going to price them at). So they paid me as if they sold at those prices, which was the price minus their 10% commission. One item was a dress they rejected, so it was never prepared for listing, but they paid me out at a comparable listing price for a dress of the same brand minus 10%. I thought that the price was fair and close to what I would have listed it at so did not argue with it.

They sound careless and flighty (or they have dishonest stock people) but they were fair with you.

yeah they either have someone with sticky fingers or some incompetent warehouse people but they've rectified the situation quickly every time without giving me the run around. Sucks for whoever the warehouse manager is to have to explain missing stuff payouts to the higher ups.

Is it coming from a far away warehouse? They started implementing a surcharge to ship items nationwide rather than just from local warehouse.

I thought they started shipping from all over awhile ago - there’s a “shop local” option that’s been there to only see items from your near east warehouse. These are from all over but that’s including my nearest one (CA). I also see some prices as $81.999999999 so maybe they’re just having a website glitch. I also can’t see my cart on a desktop.

Just wanted to chime in that the prices all went back down today. What a mess.

Further up the thread someone had mentioned about having their items bought out to go to the ThredUp retail stores--well it looks like they are doing this for expensive LUXE items now too! They bought out my Givenchy Antigona at my full listing price (minus the 10% commission) and since I got an immediate payout I was curious and checked with CS and they confirmed it was indeed bought out for the store.

Wonder what the purpose of doing this is. Do they buy it out then price it differently for their store?

They may price it differently, but it would still have to be a price that people would be willing to pay. The items they bought outright from me that were never on their website were not LUXE, but were what I consider nice mid-range brands. Theory, Trina Turk and Joie clothing. Kate Spade shoes. I was paid what I think was a very good price.

I think that the main reason that they do this though, is they need stock for their store/stores. I think they are choosing items that they think will be desirable to buyers.

I don’t know this for sure, I am just voicing what I think is going on.

Yes, I read an article about how their store assortments are curated for what people locally are buying (based on analyzing website data). For example, they have a store in Walnut Creek CA and apparently the women there buy a lot of handbags, so they put a big handbag section in that store. It is also a relatively affluent area so they can stock more expensive ones there. They could still price my bag what I had it listed for on the site and make their 10%, because I got paid out the 90%.
