I have sent them several more boxes. Most of my stuff continues to sell at decent prices, so I continue to send. So far I have only reclaimed 3 dresses out of all I have sent and they have come back fine other than some wrinkles which were easily steamed out. I had one box lost, but they paid me out for it. I have another box (out of 4 more sent) off the tracking grid again but they are tracing it and if it is lost I would expect to be paid out again. They have a few of my bags and shoes and I haven't had to reclaim any of that yet so if I do I guess I'll see if they send them back in worse shape. For those who had stuff sent back like that did you get any compensation?

I did have the Real Real send me back a bag I reclaimed damaged (finish worn off studs and missing embellishments--it was NWT when I sent) and they had to pay me out for that. All of these places are going to have problems because of the volume of items they sell, it's just a matter of how well they compensate you when they arise.

Oh and I did purchase someone's Chanel jumbo double flap advertised in like new condition and it was indeed pristine with box and dustbag. I had it independently authenticated and it is legit.

Thanks to all who provided feedback. I’m still hesitant to deal with the hassle of it but I want these items out! I think it’s going to require a lot of documentation on my part and probably even a video of me putting the box together so I have proof of all conditions, items included, etc. For those who had issues - did you provide proof or just state your case?

I send an itemized packing slip listing the item type/name, condition, and retail price by email to the LUXE team whenever I send a box, and also print a copy to go in the box. I don't do pictures but I have sent them 9 boxes now of luxury items so they know I am not a random scammer. If I were sending a single high value item like a chanel or hermes bag I would probably do photo documentation. When one of my boxes got lost they paid me out for the value of the stuff listed on my packing slip minus what their commission would have been (10%). I didn't need photos.

Also when you drop your box off (I recommend dropping at a fedex office NOT USPS) make sure you get a drop off receipt so you can prove you dropped it off.

maybe I should give them another chance, but i still remember my returned damaged / smashed shoes and dirty dress, and it was quite a painful experience. and unlike MyAwesomeFinds they did refuse a lot of my items, though they were in very good condition, and I successfully sold them at other sites later. also I like crossposting, and sending my merchandise to them I can't sell it anywhere else to increase my chances. But I did have good sales there at the beginning and managed to move some of my reeeeeeeally old stock.

90% of my stuff is NWT, so it all gets accepted. I source mostly from sample sales so it's all unworn.

did they ever do anything about the smooshed valentino sandals they sent back to you?

I will add that the cart reserve system could still use some improvements, so there is still some frustration with that as a seller. It will not allow you to input a coupon when auto-buying so people who have coupons they want to use are discouraged from auto-buying and instead have to play the game to snatch something out of someone else's cart when the timer is up to check out normally with a coupon. I think items would sell faster if they would fix this. I am also still not sure if first-time buyers have the option to auto-buy yet or if you have to already have an account with them.

they made better pics and sold Valentino, but I had another smooshed CL pair, and I sold them on posh as is loosing money, and I did not ask for any compensation those time. But they did pay for scuffs on my boots and for the the dress dry cleaning. They offered generous compensation. but I'd prefer that it never happened rather then getting $ for it:)

Very true, because of the hassle. But as long as they are compensating, why not give it another try if you have other items not selling on other platforms. I know there are always bugs in the process with them but they payout 90% over $300 and you don't have to deal with customer returns, which is still a better deal than any of the other consignment options out there. That's why I continue.

yeah, maybe i should. it was so good at the very beginning, they bought out maybe 1/3 of my stuff from the first 2 bags, for very good prices. they said they bought it for their offline store. then they stopped doing it, maybe it was like a gesture of courtesy for the very first participants:)

I am going a bit off topic, but I think that this is interesting enough to post. I’m posting it here because the other ThredUp threads are dead, and I’m pretty sure that some of you still send in non-LUXE items too.

I sent in a bag with only 6 non-LUXE, but what I consider good mid-priced brands. They bought outright a pair of Kate Spade flats that I sent in before she passed, but were processed right after. These sold within 2 days and I received a good commission. I need to wait the 14 days to cash out on these.

The interesting part comes next. The other five items were accepted on consignment, which disappointed me somewhat at first due to the “waiting game”. They were available online.

A couple of days later my Trina Turk skirt said “unavailable” not “sold” but showed me getting the commission. The next day my Joie skirt said “unavailable” and showed me getting the commission. My cash was also available within a few days, and I have already received my PayPal funds.

Now my Theory skirt shows as being “unavailable” so I anticipate being able to cash these funds out soon too.

All these items either received a lot of likes or were put in people’s cart right after listing, but not sold yet. They didn’t stay online long enough for me to even consider reducing the prices.

I am actually very happy with this, as I didn’t have to wait for them to sell and I was able to get my funds quickly.

Maybe after seeing how popular items are online, they pull them for their B&M store if they need stock?

Also, when buyers see that items they had in their carts are later unavailable, in the future they may not wait to buy?

I haven’t bothered to contact customer service, as I am happy with the cash I received. Has anyone else had this experience?

I’ve had this happen as well - unavailable and instant cash out. I wasn’t aware they opened a B&M but that makes perfect sense if it sold there and they pull it from online. I had forgot this happened to me, so thanks for bringing it up!

Well, maybe I’m wrong, but they have something; or else they’re getting ready to launch something.

ohhh....that's interesting. I did have one instant cash out but thought it was just a glitch or something. I was just happy to have my money sooner. I guess if they are opening more stores this would be happening more.
