I've sold some stuff on thred up (mostly shoes and clothing, no bags), but all of my sold items are so far under $200 (NWT Fendi, Marni, etc.) I'm thinking about sending runway dresses (originally $5k) and price it around $1k. Did anyone manage to sell a dress in that range?

I think unfortunately the site skews towards bargain hunters at this time. The most expensive RTW I sold was a chanel jacket which I had to reduce several times to lower than I wanted, I think $5k+ RTW sells for about 10% or less of retail, but if it is very recent, a sought after brand and one of the more popular looks from that season you can probably sell for a bit more.

All my sold stuff has been $200 and under so far. Still have a $350 bag with 100+ favorites I'm trying to get sold but it's pretty much on 24/7 reserve. My advice would be to send one dress, see how it does, and based on that decide about the rest. Also you can ask the Luxe team how a certain brand has done on the site and what it usually sells for. Email [email protected]. It may take a few days for them to get back to you but they will have advice.

When my items expire (starting now) will they email me to reclaim them? Or do I have to reach out to them? What happens now?
Update: they email you when your items expire to see "if you want to reclaim them", there is about a 2 weeks window to reclaim and you just pay tax (oddly) on the price of the item (though you don't pay for the item) and about $6-7 shipping fee.

Wait WHAAAAT? Did someone who knows what they're talking about tell you this? When you send something for consignment you still own it. Why would you pay tax on something you still own? Also I thought the shipping fee was covered by free return assurance that comes with the LUXE kit? This needs to be clarified. I refuse to pay tax on something I still own; I do not believe that is legal.

Also I have reclaimed items from the The Real Real numerous times and never paid a penny to do so, tax or otherwise.

I've reclaimed my items and I was not charged tax. The only tax I had to pay for was for shipping. You should talk to customer service ASAP!

Under $200 seems to be the trend...I've asked luxe but I haven't received answer yet. BTW reservation time seems to have changed!

I also think that this sounds ridiculous!

Paying tax on an item that you still own, so that it can be returned to you doesn’t make any sense. You will actually be losing money by trying to consign them. If this was told to anyone in advance, I don’t see why anyone would send them anything!

I thought that part of the appeal of the Luxe program was that you could get your item back at anytime, at no cost to you, with free return shipping.

My items that were accepted for consignment, thankfully have sold. I had a small Prada bag that was not accepted (not sure why) but was returned to me free of charge.
