ThredUp Selling - Luxe

I find their prices are quite high relative to the quality and style of the items. seriously, Fashionphile need not worry about TE eating their lunch even at 0% commission. they're wasting their VC's funding in maintaining this particular endeavor, though pretty sure the reason behind their push is when I came across the survey ThredUp conducts annually (I think... you can google it) that shows a rather upscale segment of the consignment market (high income buyers, high value items etc), problem is these aren't necessarily their own ThredUp buyers. not sure how they conducted their survey TBH. other consignors charge more commissions for sure but racing to the bottom on the wing of 3 photos plus final sale caveat isn't a viable solution!

They allow consignors to set their prices. Some people are clearly unrealistic about what their older discontinued styles are worth. When they don't sell, they will have to mark them down if they want them to move. OTOH Nicole has her boy bag listed at a reasonable $3700 and her birkin at a reasonable $7500. :)

It looks like they marginally improved these chanel slingbacks but didn't quite get it. They fixed the previously mangled straps but didn't bother to stuff anything in the front of the shoes to fix the dents. Why is this so hard?

Yes, at least it is an improvement!
When I sent an example photo to Claire she sent a nice email back saying that it’s not that they can’t see the differences in the photos, but that they have operational issues to address in the process of taking photos and listing Luxe items. She referenced that most of their items are non-Luxe and the structure for getting those items online has to be quick and simple, and that the Luxe items as yet do not have a different process for photographing and listing online. They are aware of the issue but don’t have a plan to change this at the moment.

Interesting. Another thing they're going to have to get serious about if they want to compete in the luxury space.

It makes me almost wonder if they plan/expect to keep their business focused around low-end items and just have a small amount of luxe items to initially attract people to the site.
The people attracted by the high end items probably won't want to buy the low end items. It feels like the company management just started this as a side project but doesn't want to give the team the resources they need to be successful.

I didn't realize it's a new process to flip the shoes over and photograph the soles? it literally takes seconds to do this. guess it's always my biggest pet peeve when a seller describes flaws in words only and not in pictures like the buyer should be telepathic/psychic. sellers (luxe or not) deserve so much more for listing on ThredUp than the way management executes.

do you remember we were discussing that expiry date depends on how much time item was reserved? well it's not.
my earliest bag expired, all the items together, though a day before some of them had like 20 days left, some 11, some 3. when I asked why, they said just "it seems your items expired", no explanation. I didn't push the subject, as most of the items were reserved 24/7 anyways and didn't have a chance to sell.
meanwhile overall the sales are pretty good in February for me, something's selling almost everyday except for the items that are invaded by some miracle users:)
