Has anyone's stuff been moving? Three of my items sold during the coupon last week, but everything is sitting since then. Most of my items are mid-range designer stuff I priced low under $200 just to sell off; while more than half of my items overall have sold I'm wondering if the slow moving despite "favorites" and "reserves" on the rest is b/c TU shoppers are extra thrifty and won't shop without a coupon or if it's just because Feb. is still a slow shopping time in general. Claire said no guarantees but the target to get the "commit to buy" feature up is the end of this month. Debating sending more in (more expensive pieces) if that will be available, but not sure if it's a waste for more expensive items because they won't sell on that site.
Claire told me the same thing about the "commit to buy" feature possibly starting at the end of the month but "no guarantees" on any timeline. I don't think it makes sense to send in high value items until this is implemented. My bags are still sitting there reserved every second.

Yeah I think I will wait to see if the feature goes up on schedule. But even with that, wondering if TU shoppers will shell out for designer pieces at reasonable prices or if they will only buy when you are offering it at 80-90% off retail. Hard to tell right now. I had only sent in things I had for a while and was willing to put deep markdowns on...for newer items I would want to list at fairly reasonable resale prices.

Until they start getting more traffic, which of course is linked with having a good selection of desirable items actually being available for purchase, I think it will be more the deep discount crowd.

Yes, and they really really need to improve merchandise display. I also sent this to Claire:

The team did re-photograph my bag, which I appreciate. Not sure if the LUXE team has discussed better training the photography team to display items in an appealing way; especially for the LUXE items that people may be spending a lot on it is important. It would be nice to not have to deal with it on an ad hoc basis by having individual consignors asking to have their items redone. These are not my listings but some more examples where improvement really needs to be made:

I've sold 2 of my 4 items in the last few days, still have 2 more items to sell. I agree that the more expensive items take time to sell as the majority of luxury buyers might not consider (or even know about) ThredUp over Fashionphile or Yoogi's or Ann's or several other places.

Haha! I was just going to comment on how my new chanel slingbacks have not sold at a great price because the photos are awful!
They will re-photograph for you if you contact them. You shouldn't have to, but it's better than nothing as long as they have your item. It helps if you send them an example of a similar item from another site (TRR, Yoogi's etc).

That's crazy that you (as their client) would have to show them an example of how an item should be listed!

Presumably, you're using them because they're the pros!

The LUXE program is new and they are having a lot of growing pains. We have been trying them out due to the 100% commission promotion, so I am giving them a little slack for being in "beta." But they really need to be making significant improvements if they want people to continue to send them things. They need to bring on some luxury merchandisers to direct the program.

I really think that whether an item is luxe or not, there are obvious ways to photograph things to make them look attractive to buyers. I don't think they need luxury merchandisers, just someone with common sense, or maybe someone who does a lot of shopping.
