If you haven't already you should complain to them about the policy. I have complained several times but I am just one person.
I was told that items that get held in carts "eventually sell better" than items not held in carts so people just might need more time to decide. But obviously it's because those are the most desirable items so people are trying to hoard them for themselves until they have money to buy or whatnot. If people couldn't constantly re-reserve the items for 24 hours then people who had cash to buy immediately could have a chance. I think they are really looking at it backwards. At least if they don't want to lower the 24 hrs to say 1 hr, they could prohibit people from doing consecutive holds. If you don't buy in 24 hours, someone else gets a chance. Period.
Claire also mentioned "other considerations" but I don't know what those are. No other online business allows this kind of hold without a deposit as far as I am aware.
i am still reading the newest posts here forgive me if i'm repeating! but, yes. i had this happen for the entire 84? day period, reserved the whole time. now its extended with no reserves at all. i think that reserving like this/ holding can damage the sellability of an item period. for those who check the box to also see Reserved items, which i suspect is most people, they may now have seen that item for 3 months and so psychologically? lol it no longer seems "hot" now that its available. anyway. they are dead wrong on this if they're wavering on changing the 24 hour cart issue. eegads.

nope it's always been 14 days after it's sold. at least since I first shipped my first bag:smile:
they don't update sales and don't send notification e-mails properly. sometimes it takes days till the item is marked sold (for at least couple of days it remains "reserved" in your list, but "sold" when you click on the listing) and 1 - 2 more days to get e-mail about it:smile: I just manually check each reserved item several times a day, I know I'm crazy
Snort! me too!!!! lol!!

I mailed my latest Luxe box earlier this week (just a couple of items with a couple of non-Luxe items). They have already received it and said it will process within a couple of days. So, I think that is positive. The last time it took almost 3 weeks for them to get it and then more time to process and list.

at least 3 or 4 pairs of my shoes are invaded. I was trying to lower price for one pair and was waiting till reserved time is over. same SECOND it's over it was reserved for 24 hours again. they set an alarm to do this!! I don't know why this person does it with this pair for weeks but obv not to buy them. maybe it's other seller of similar goods just keeps them out, I don't know:( any ideas?

I am very sorry to hear about everyone’s recent poor LUXE experiences. My first LUXE bag was processed 13 days after their estimated date.

I only sent 2 items; a MJ wallet from when MJ had a separate premier line and a small Prada bag. Both were in gently used pre-owned condition. They accepted the MJ wallet, but said that the Prada bag is on it’s way back to me. This is fine with me so far, as the MJ wallet would have been harder for me to sell myself.

The wallet has been photographed, but the sale is not active yet. Imo the wallet is priced fairly high, unless someone has a 40% off code to use. I will likely reduce the price.

I sent a pristine box and dust bag with the wallet which they don’t mention and did not photograph. To me, this is a miss on their part. I have seen at least one listing showing a box in just fair shape.

I am worried now that the Prada bag will be sent back without the authenticity card and tag that I included, making it of less value to me. I should have just sent a copy.

After reading other poster’s poor experiences (thank you so much for this), I only sent 2 items that I would not have been happy about losing, but would not devastate me.

I do not think that they are really able to handle all of the items that they are receiving now. It does not seem that they are as skilled in handling and pricing luxury goods as they should be (or do not have enough people who are) to make this program work well.

I will reserve final judgment until my wallet sale becomes active, and I get my bag back.

Just want to give an update on my previous post.

I received my little Prada bag back and I am happy to report that it included the care and authenticity cards. I already listed it on eBay, and it has met it’s reserve. As long as my buyer pays, it should be a successful sale.

I am now thinking that I will probably send a bag in to Luxe. Fingers crossed that things will go smoothly.

I'm guessing that many ThredUp shoppers are less cash-flush than those on other consignment sites like TRR, Yoogi's and many of them may want these designer items but don't have funds to buy. So they keep re-reserving items as an ad hoc layaway system until they get their next paycheck or infusion of cash.

I have noticed the same thing with my items. How can these people monitor the items day after day like this?
Threadup keeps saying that the items which are constantly reserved end up selling the best, but if they are literally never available how does that make sense? This is not good for their business either because it means no commission for them if high end items never sell and less traffic to their site if there are no very nice items available.

TU is completely confusing correlation with causation. These items don't sell the best *because* they are allowed to be reserved for excessive amounts of time. They happen to get reserved a lot because they are clearly desirable items, and desirable items will ultimately sell. However, they could be selling A LOT faster if the ridiculously long reservation times weren't able to keep the items from a full audience of buyers. Instead the consignors are stuck waiting to get paid out because people are allowed to reserve and reserve and reserve. If there were a 20 min timer like every other site people couldn't do this.

Right! These items don’t “sell better” because each item can only sell one time, it’s not as if they have multiples of the same identical item to sell. Therefore if someone can’t get to the item they want because someone else has it on eternal hold, they actually missed several opportunities to sell that item. If the item gets marked down or reclaimed without ever having been sold because it was on permanent-hold, it didn’t sell better and they did all the listing work for nothing.

I think they have too many fashion/merchandizing experts and not enough MBAs and statisticians on staff to understand these concepts.

I got an email this morning with a 40% off code and was excited that some items might move! But then I tried to use it myself and it says it’s invalid for the items in my cart? I read the fine print and it says for outerwear only even though the email says off you’re entire purchase [emoji849]

I got one for 30% off (max $100 discount) and it would not work for any item I put in my cart. I also tried outerwear. I think they are having more technical difficulties.
