I'm glad to see the RM team so responsive on this thread. I appreciate that.

I have to tell you, unfortunately, how disappointed I am with my recent purchase of a MAC on RM.com. It arrived tonight and I was very excited.

But when I unwrapped this bag I was immediately struck by the flimsiness of the leather, and the fact that it doesn't feel like leather, nor does it have that lovely leather scent that my other RM bags have.

I got this bag on sale, and bought it even though it said it was a final sale. I already own SEVEN MACs, two MAMs, two Swing bags. I mention this to let you know that I'm quite familiar with the brand, the quality of the leather, and the overall construction of these purses.

This MAC in Fern was a color I admired since I first saw it a while ago. When I saw it was on sale I jumped on it. The final sale aspect didn't bother me as I am the happy owner of all those other RM bags! But this bag is a big disappointment.

This has to have been manufactured on the cheap, and it shows, even holding it on my hands. Extra tassels were provided, but the tassel on the zipper was shorter than any of the other tassels on my other MACs. Those tassels are distinctive, and something I love about the bags. The 'abbreviated' zipper tassel looks… off. I could live with that if the quality of the leather was on par with my other bags. It's not. This leather is thin, feels like pleather, and looks like it too.

I'm super disappointed in this bag, and am wary, now, of future purchases from your website. There isn't a store in my vicinity that carries Rebecca Minkoff (we aren't getting a Nordstrom for another year), so I can't inspect the bag before I buy it.

I felt safe making this final sale purchase because of my nice collection of RM bags, but this has been a wholly unhappy experience. I put the bag away; I'm so disappointed in it that I really can't bear to look at it now. I wasted $200 on this, and that hurts.
oh no, sorry to hear you don't like your new bag!

when you were mentioning about the filmsiness of the material, i immediately thought of my sky grey mini 5-Zip (http://forum.purseblog.com/rebecca-...rey-bags-here-pics-369261-8.html#post24870633) which is made of a very funny unknown material that i don't think is leather. well, i have to admit i'm not familiar with all leathery materials. but honestly, i don't feel that's leather. however, i gradually started to like the texture and feel of this material. it feels thin and weak but it's actually quite durable and easy to manage.

i understand you expected a thicker leather like that of your other RM bags. it's sad it turned out to be the type of leather that you were not expecting. i hope RM Team will get back to you soon.

Hi, I Iooked at the bag you mentioned and yes, it might be the same sort of "leather". I'm glad to hear that it grew on you, and you found it usable. I'm bummed b/c part of the fun of the RM (or any) bag is its lovely leather. That makes me really enjoy carrying it, you know? Since I don't have positive feelings toward this bag, I had to hide it. I'm really mad at myself for buying it.

I'm hoping the RM rep might have something to contribute to this conversation.

Kasey I have to say, I'm confused, but I agree. I have a Skye Grey Nikki, liked it so much I also got a Skye Grey Mab. I didn't think that was thin. But, on the other hand, I got the new "Grape" MAB, blue/black dot lining, and while I love the color, and the slight glaze the leather feels really thin, and if possible, the same dried out "eggplant" texture from a year or so ago. Wrinkly and just meh. But, the color and glaze gave it a quality I had to have, so I'm keeping her. And the Lilac (ok, so I splurge for the holidays) Mab is just as thick as the Skye Grey, the Jammin Purple from years ago, Sure, I wish each one would be a winner, but I'll just choose my RMs more carefully.

i think the color of your Nikki and MAB is Sky. Sky Grey is another color in 2012 coming with the blue/ black polka dot lining (but even for the same color name, the leather used and the color tone could be different. i don't understand why but that's what RM has been doing for many years). The leather texture of my bag is exactly like the one used for the MAC Bombe line. it's smooth but matte. it's not as thick as calfskin in general. i read some people write it's actually lambskin and for that i'm not sure as i don't own another bag made of lambskin. i don't mind the leather of my bag is thin. my concern is if it's durable and easy to manage. i've worn my Sky Grey mini 5-Zip for a few times and it's fine. after some buffing out the scratches are unnoticeable.

for some of her recent bags, i suspect the leather is actually very thin but some kind of coating is added on it so it feels thicker. so, i agree, her older bags before 2010 are better in terms of leather (but there're still some exceptions). but so far, i'm happy with the ones i'm having. some may be better in leather but some are better in color ;)

Who is the current Customer Care person and what is her email?

The dog leash clasp on my stingray MAC got separated a while ago. I emailed customer care months ago and while I initially got a reply, I never got a reply to my follow up questions.

Hi RM Team,

I see that you have visited this thread but I still have not received an answer to my question. I would appreciate if I could get the information that I need, Thank you.

I recently got a Rebecca Minkoff Mab mini from amazon. In the picture it was a smooth leather, but when I received it, it was pebbled. It's a pretty bag and I am going to keep it, but I was wondering, will a pebbled leather bag get soft and squishy over time??

Now, I am surprised: how did the Vincent cards confuse customers?

Sometimes people actually think that it's a note from a guy that somebody left in a returned bag or something. This actually happened to me when I was buying a MAM at Nordstrom. The sales clerk checking me out found the Vincent card and got all flustered and asked if I wanted another "new" bag. I was like "Um, that's supposed to be in there" and then she was even more confused. :)

I find all her leathers get soft and squishy over time. I have a couple glazed and some pebbled and some smooth. I have found all my bags age beautifully.

Hello everyone!

I am so disappointed to hear that you are unhappy with your Fern handbag! Please keep an eye out for a message as we would like to discuss this further with you.

I want to give you all as much information as I can about the leather that we use to make our handbags. Please stay tuned for a post about that, I'm still in the process of compiling lots of leather facts for all of you!

uadjit, you are correct! That is exactly why customers were confused about the Vincent Cards! :yahoo:

I just wanted to say how much we appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

I hope I answered all of your recent questions and will keep you posted on my leather research project!

Have a lovely night

Just wanted to say that I'm loving the Spring 2014 collection, everything looks absolutely beautiful. Rebecca Minkoff did a fantastic job. I can't wait for the new Elles to come out. I love the yellow Elle so much, it's on my wishlist. Thank you for making the Elle in this color, I've been waiting for the perfect yellow bag for next Spring/Summer, and I finally found it. Thank you!

But please, please RM Team and Rebecca, please sell the Elles in other stores besides Saks. I was so disappointed that Nordstrom carried only one color (Black with gold studs). I don't have a Saks/Neimans/Bloomingdales near me, and since their online stores charges shipping, I rather not shop with them. Nordstrom is always the best place since they ALWAYS offer free shipping, no minimum. Please offer more Elles to Nordstrom or Shopbop, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you! <3

I'd really like to hear from the RM team about these different types of leather. In particular, the leather that feels like pleather.

I love the Grape distressed leather!

I think I know what you mean. I was just expecting something different, but the color, and the way it glistened in the light told me to keep it. It will probably be something that grows on me. DH took it away and put it in the Christmas closet as soon as I said I was keeping it. So, I've never had a distressed leather, my eggplant was broken - a zipper that was open and couldn't close right out of the box- but I didn't care for that at all. The Grape is a great color, and she could end up being a favorite bag. I do love the mab, but

Please Rebecca Minkoff bring back new Nikkis. we LOVE that bag.
