This is one of my favorite threads! I just can't get enough of watching the Graffiti Speedy extreme makeover! :D It's like magic! :D

I have a rescue story coming up in 5 weeks :) That's when I travel to Paris to pick up my darling Speedy 25 from her little makeover :) The story is quite embarrassing, I over-loved her, and accidentally caused a trauma to the vachetta, that needed to be replaced. Luckily I was headed to Paris anyway, so I left her there, and got a quote immediately, and now I just have to pick her up. I would anyway visit Paris again, so this all is very convenient. But still I feel it's bad service, that they don't ship it to even at my own cost. The part that needed replacement is the leaf with the heat stamp, and it cost me 35 euros :D They said 25 euros at first, but after a week they called me from France and said that it would be 35, and asked if it's OK :) Sweet :)

I purchased a large Noe from a wonderful seller on Ebay and she gave me permission to post pictures. I have cleaned it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and put three coats of Apple Conditioner on it. It looks better but not as good as I KNOW I can get it. These are the before pictures and I will post after pictures soon!!!!

It looks great. Have you used it yet? Any new patina to show us?
I'm considering doing this with my Cerises speedy.

A piece for the intensive care unit....my Graff Speedy.:smile1:
The handels with heavy patina nearly black, the vachetta piece with the heat stamp was in no good condition...really I did start not like to carry the Speedy any more. :-(

So I have washed, cleaned him before and then he travelled to Paris-Asnieres.

And after 4 weeks the Speedy come back!!!
With a maiden heat stamp ;-)

And now I can make new patina, new scraches and new dirt !!!:yahoo:;)

I brought my speedy 25 in to LV today to get an estimate for handle replacement or full leather replacement.
To do the handles & chapes (leather portion on the bag itself that the handles are attached to) plus the leather slider the cost would be $168. To replace all of the leather it would be $700. They told me that the cost is equal to 2/3 of the original price of the bag. So that means that a limited edition costs more than a regular mono bag.

:yahoo: Great thread!!! :yahoo:

I am so excited! Tonight my mother gifted me her mono Alma - and it is a very well-loved bag from at least 10 years ago...I saw it hidden in the top of her closet and said - "Hey, is that an Alma?"

And she didn't even know the name of the bag but offered it to me. I of course said SURE!!! I will take some pics tomorrow when the light's decent and post here, because tomorrow afternoon I am taking the bag in for an estimate - the vachetta def. needs to be replaced, along with the handles and the hardware. The lock is also missing...but the canvas is impeccable.

I know that it will be a chunk of change to refurbish the bag but I am def. willing to invest the money. I LOVE the idea of having a gorgeous bag that was well-loved by my mom. We are very close, so that makes it all the more special.

I'll keep you all posted!

Quick questions: Will LV also clean the lining if I request it? (The lining is not bad at all, just needs a slight going-over).

And if I need a dust bag, will they sell/give me one? (Somehow I doubt this, but I thought I'd ask). ;)

TIA!

Okay, so I left my Mono Alma at the Saks LV boutique for repair. (I also took a lot of "before" pics that I will post later once it returns!) Just in case anyone is contemplating a similar type of repair, here's what I am having done and what it costs:

They are replacing the vachetta on the bottom, as well as the handles (not just the handles themselves, but the vachetta and the hardware that attaches them to the bag), and the zipper heads. If I can't find the original lock around here, then I will have to have that replaced along with the free key.

The SA suggested that I not replace the entire zipper, since it was running very well and looked good - no need to put the bag through any extra trauma, he said. :smile1:

It should 4-6 weeks, and will cost an estimated $408 - if I buy another lock, that will cost $39 more, I believe. The bag should look brand new when done (with the exception of the lining - I cleaned it very well, and it's an 8/10, I would say, which I am happy about). I will post pics once I have it again.

I am really excited - this will definitely the most "formal" bag in my collection, and the only hand-held one I own (the rest are all Balenciaga). I'll be sure to post pics!
