Saw this pochette OM in a tiny consignment shop. She's 8 years old and in excellent condition except for that slight musty smell of things stored in a cabinet and forgotten.

I figured I'd air her out to get rid of the smell - however slight (I didn't want it to transfer to my purse or other slgs). After a couple of days, the smell didn't dissipate. :(

So I decided to trust in the excellent reputation and craftsmanship of LV... and HAND WASH her... :graucho:

Lightly washed the canvas with my fingers going in a circular motion with a tiny bit of liquid handsoap and water. Then, I rinsed it with water using my fingers and patted it dry with a white (new) dish towel.

The smell on the canvas disappeared! :)

Next step, tackling the old-smelling interior...which looked perfect by way, no stains or discolouration. Just that smell!

Remembering how we can turn a Neverfull inside out, I turned the pochette OM inside out and gave her a gentle washing. Imagining washing my own face, I used a small dollop of handsoap and water and lathered the interior. Gross, but I could smell the "old smell" coming out and mingling with the lavander-scented lather. I rinsed gently and made sure no trace of soap left. Then patted it as dry as I can.

Photos of her after her bath, waterlogged vachetta tab and being turned inside out... :giggles:

This post (and thread) is not for the faint of heart.

After patting her as dry as I can with the towel, I set her by the window so she can dry from the sunshine and breeze. Quick photos of her inside out (again).

I'm happy to report the smell is gone from the canvas and the interior!! Because she is an OM pochette, I didn't have to worry about an interior pocket. And since she's 8 this year, her vachetta tab dried without waterspots.

Hurray for LV canvas! :yahoo:

Overall condition is good but there's tarnish on the zipper and rivets. The key ring looks good though. Thank goodness there is no eeky smell.

I used brasso to get rid of the tarnish and aldo leather conditioner to clean and condition the inside and outside leather.

Amazing!! [emoji3] I need to try brasso

Hi, I know I've see it on this topic before, but I can't seem to find it now. Can someone tell me how much it would be to replace the leather trim, handles & drawstrings on the Neverfull MM. I'm considering purchasing a preloved bag from eBay but the trim desperately needs to be replaced.

TIA!!

I recently bought a vintage amazone bag for very cheap, the canvas and interior is beautiful but the vachetta on the outside is quite worn, and on one back corner there's a very big black spot. I've tried to clean the parts with magic eraser but having difficulty with the thin edging. Any suggestions(I kinda did a bad job because the color don't really even out[emoji13])?
