I'm thinking of purchasing a vernis patent leather piece on eBay - older with what looks like the print from a plastic shopping bag transferred on it. Impossible to remove or does it need some elbow grease with the right cleaner? Does anyone have before and after pics?

You just opened a whole new world on eBay to me! I've skipped bags like this in the past

I know, me too! I did not expect to win this auction, so I was kind of forced into it.

I just bought a very vintage Noe with torn corners that I have some ideas on how to fix...it if turns out like I hope, I will post before and after pics.

Here is another rescue of mine.

I know not many people like the Multipli Cite, but I think it's a great bag. It's roomy, has a lot of pockets and the cool red alcantra interior.

Unfortunately, one of the problems it does have is that the zipper tends to push up if the bag is stored or carried with not much in it, which creates a lot of stress along the sewn seam of the zipper. Over time, the canvas can crack and split along the seam.

Because the one I bought had this issue, I made a fairly lowball BO and the seller accepted! I was thrilled. I did not save the photos from the listing I bought it from, but here is a photo from another listing that shows the problem:

Originally, I was going to try just using some sort of glue to fix the seam, but thought over time it would just crack again.

Because I know how to sew fairly well, I got out a needle and thread and decided to sew the seam. I used a thin needle because I didn't want to split the canvas as I was sewing it, dark brown thread and very small (close together) stitches. I also gave the canvas a good cleaning with baby wipes and removed any marks on the straps with a ME and baby wipes, then conditioned them.

Here is the result!

I also made a stiff cardboard insert that I pop in along the top when I'm storing it, as to reduce the stress along that seam.
