Does anyone know if it's possible to have the front snap replaced on a LV wallet? Sometimes I see them on ebay and the snap may be missing but they are otherwise in good condition.
TIA!

I took my Emelie Wallet into the Louis Vuitton shop in Chevy Chase, Maryland. At first they said it would be free and then they came back and and told me it would be $35.00 to replace the Red Front Button Snap. This was about a year ago, and it was only about 6-months old. I have not done it, yet.

Thanks tdc, good to know this.

Is the red front snap leather? Perhaps it's just the brass ones that are free?

I'm in...I just purchased a vintage 1998 Alma! I am so excited to receive her and see How much "rescuing" I have to do. I am looking forward to the labor of LVoe. I will keep you posted!

Congrats! Might not be too bad, I bought mine in 2000 and she is in fabulous shape! I did ask at at my boutique last week how much it would be to replace all the leather and it was £350 (I only paid £300 for her brand new!)

Thanks! Depending on the condition, I was thinking I could take her in for an inspection of the canvas to possibly have the leather replaced. So we shall see... :D

My Alma arrived today!!! For being 19 yrs old she was not bad at all...here she is just out of the box.

Here she is after some cleaning...hardware included. I purchased the lock from my LV store and the chain is a shoulder strap from eBay.

Wow! The result is amazing! Did you use any Special products?

No, I used alcohol/fragrance free baby wipes on the leather and let it dry then I used Brasso for all the metal parts and finished using a micro fiber towel to wipe down the canvas and the whole purse. I love the honey color patina of the leather, it evened out the color as well ...lol looking at the picture i now see my furniture has the same tones..I haven't conditioned the leather yet, I'm undecided as to what I want to use. Hth.
