help is there any way I can take this out I think ink bled through from the inside is this a lost cause
Looks like someone else tried and failed. The only things i have tried that have gotten ink off were alcohol and acetone, but that was only on interiors and coated canvas. I would be really hesitant to use them in vachetta. Maybe using a white pencil eraser with light pressure in stages followed by wiping with unscented baby wipes, letting everything dry in between…if nothing cones off after 2-3 attempts, I would take it to a professional or consider letting LV replace that piece of trim.

I was about to send my Montsouris GM to LV for a full leather replacement when I noticed two teensy cracks in the canvas. They’re extremely small, barely visible to the naked eye. I know LV generally won’t repair bags with cracked canvas, but I’ve heard of certain exceptions depending on size and location of the cracks. Do you think I should still send my Montsouris to LV to see if they’ll go ahead with the leather replacement, or is it a lost cause? Pics attached for reference.

The worst they can say is no…send it.

I say send it. I’ve sent several bags to LV for vachetta replacement and they all had a small crack here and there and they still did the repair. Yours do not look that bad and they should be able to complete the repair on your bag. Good luck!

Hello Everyone! I recently bought my first Louis Vuitton Bag! It is a Vintage Alma PM! I have yet to receive the bag in the mail but I’m already thinking of cleaning/ restoring the leather. I’ve seen the option of painting it, but I don’t want to change the patina. Here are some photos of the bag I’d appreciate any suggestions!

Has anyone restored dry, dull (zero shine) vachetta before? Is this something that can easily be done? I’ve just got this pre-loved bag and wasn’t sure if I should keep or return. Would the dry vachetta likely be an issue in the long run, e.g. cracking? 2A177D18-9B66-45AA-8A03-BCFC1F2B540E.jpegC197607C-0932-4962-BE93-8DCB303D76C3.jpeg9D831DD8-6014-4448-A382-0294A422F71D.jpeg36E176A7-6980-4D48-9907-D830B531C2D7.jpeg

Hi all, I just received a 1992 Noe from Fashionphile yesterday. I’m pretty sure there is mold on the vachetta especially the strap (these are the most concerning to me). They didn’t show any close up pics of the strap. There are a few dark spots on the bottom trim and on the bottom itself but I thought it was just liquid stains since the bag is so old. The bag has no odors and overall looks great other than the dark spots. If this is mold can I clean/get rid of it or should I just return it and hope I can find another one reasonably priced. I’ve been searching forever for a Noe. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I recommend you to use OZONE or ACTIVE SILVER.

Ozone is better, but quite tricky - ask your garrage, they apply it for for the car desinfection and use the use ozone generator.
Active silver is less reliable, but you could use it at home - in EU it does exist for example in Würth spray https://eshop.wuerth.de/Product-cat...tive/14013007030402.cyid/1401.cgid/en/US/EUR/

Both are fast ways, invisible and without damaging the material (gas only is the agent).
I would go to ozone, it will not be an expensive service. They can put your bag inside the other clients car which they're disinfecting in your garage (IMHO for free or for chocolate bar).

(Sorry, but I have no idea how to say these technical terms in English, I hope I came up with the right names: D)

You can use Cadillac leather lotion. It's the best for vachetta.
I am not a restoration specialist but you have to know that the leather will get darker but still less dry. The bottom of the Alma will get a more even tone from the lotion, hidding scuffs and dryness from it's age.
Hope this helps
Thank you so much for your suggestion!

Hi everyone. I'm not familiar with lv leathers. Is this cracking in the creases of the hide? Can this be fixed? It took me a while (3 replacements) to find a business card with no alignment issue. i hope this won't worsen overtime or compromise the leather's integrity. Would very much appreciate your experience on the emperiente leather and advice. Many thanks.

I don't see anything? But I'm thinking you should post this is the thread that asks if it is normal?

I think it's just a bit dirty in the creases of the leather. You can try to rub it gently with a soft toothbrush and leather cleaner like Cadillac leather lotion. To see if it goes away.

Thanks. I'm still waiting to hear from SA. I tried cleaning it with a damp cloth and it seems have gotten less. But zoomed in it is like the creases have dried or maybe glue residue?

Hi, I'm referring to this part. The other 3 items I ordered did not have this dry looking patch. Thanks for the advice on the "is this nornal" thread. Will search for it and post there. :)
