I tried baking soda in leather bags but not LV to remove mothball smell. Instead of placing a pack of baking soda inside the bag, I dissolved the powder in water, then clean the interior by using a damp cloths soaked in the mixture, then air out the bag. You might want to put the bag in the sun for the beginning, but avoid bright sunlight. Again, I have not tried this in LVs so please handle with care if you wanna give it a try. Or, just starting to use your bag if the smell is not that strong, it will get better over the time.

Hi all
Just to share - Not a rescue but a prevention.... [emoji51].

I recently purchased the new LV Giant Kirigami set and love it ... however the light coloured interior made me hesitate to use it... Since I didn’t want to pay a lot of money for bag inserts or organizers, I bought some felt cloth and made my own “inserts” by folding it into half and machine sewing both sides. Really simple. It’s thin and doesn’t take up space but thick enough to prevent accidental stains from coins and makeup.

Hope this helps someone who is thinking of DIY their own bag / pouch insert.
my mom is awesome at sewing and she actually just did the same thing for me! we bought felt and she made me liners for my toiletry pouch and for the inside of my watercolor speedy 35 since the inside is white! worked great and cost me like $10 for the felt haha.

Can this LV be saved? I tried to get rid of a musty smell so following bad advice, I drenched it with Febreeze and left it in the dust bag. A couple of days later, I now have these marks on the vachetta. I tried to remove the marks with saddle soap and leather conditioner to no avail. Anything else I can try?D3FE663F-D4B7-4D9E-BD8F-88DC106F4E23.jpeg CB633B20-BE3A-4BE4-872D-AEE36099506F.jpeg CB633B20-BE3A-4BE4-872D-AEE36099506F.jpeg

Hey everyone,
I have recently received this delightful bag from a family member and i wanted to ask about your opinion. Is the patina too dark? My lv bags have much lighter patina and i’m a bit concerned, will this be perceived as ‘dirty’? I don’t have much experience with vacheta/ patina aging process etc. It has a tiny bit of musty smell as well But hopefully baking soda will take it away.
Your opinions would be appreciated!:)
I have attached 2 picture ; in direct and indirect light

I think that patina is a personal preference. Like you, I prefer the lighter look. Some people prefer the darker because it looks rich and has history. I would suggest using AppleGard leather cleaner/conditioner and see what you think about the bag afterward. HTH!

Hello,
Earlier this week I received a vintage 1986 speedy 25 from one of the Japanese sellers. It was really cheap so I wasn't too worried about damage. I cleaned it first with baby wipes all over, followed by a magic eraser on the handles. Then left to dry for 24 hours and then the magic eraser once more. It's definitely lost its beautiful shine on the vachetta and dried out a LOT but what was most important to me was lightening the almost black handles. I think the colour has lightened and evened out nicely, and I'm looking forward to using this as an everyday work bag.

Nicely done! You can use AppleGard leather conditioner on the handles - that should help a lot!

I would go to LV and change the leather parts..its not only patina...too many spots on it

I recently re-conditioned 2 bags - one belonging to a friend of mine and one that my mom recent purchased pre-loved.

I posted a video on YouTube of the step-by-step process I used to clean the canvas, Vachetta leather, and interior here:

Below are some before and after pics of the Speedy 35 I cleaned for my friend. The handles were dry, dull, and cracking. Now they are supple and shiny!

HTH!

All finished!:

I’m starting to appreciate the older bags after all the quality issues this past year with my bags. Is there any difficulty with LV If you buy preloved bags and want the leather replaced? Say you don’t have the receipt or name of person who purchased the bag. I would like to start purchasing older well worn bags and bring them back to life lol since in my opinion the canvas is so much better.

You don’t need a receipt as long as the bag is authentic and that the requested repair is approved.

I've been on the hunt for an Eva in great condition and well priced for awhile now. One popped up on yoogiscloset last week that looked really great but the insides had some weird black staining. I decided to take a chance on it anyways because the price was nice.

My Eva arrived looking a little dingy and neglected but I was up to the last of breathing life into her. First, I turned her inside out as gently as possible (ok it took some yanking). I was greated with a puff of dust and grit.

I plunged her into a sink of warm water and I started to gently but firmly scrub in some dish soap with an old toothbrush. I gave her a good rinse. But, I wasnt very happy with the results.

So, I concocted a little mix of powdered oxiclean and some method laundry detergent. The mix was about 1:1 and I used about a tablespoons worth total of the mix. I scrubbed with the toothbrush getting into every little nook and cranny for about 5 minutes and then I rinsed really well both inside and outside. Keep I mind that I only scrubbed the interior of the bag.

To dry the bag, I blow dried on light/med heat on medium until just dry (instead of bone dry) and then I gently turned the bag inside out again to return it to normal. The whole process took about 20 minutes.

These are the results. My Eva is now super clean. I'm very happy and I hope this helps someone out there!

I received an old model of the toiletry 15 (with Eclair zipper) in amazing condition today

I want to get the zipper and zipper pull super shiny again but I always struggle with this tiny area. I try to use q-tips but they shred easily and I always end up with Brasso deep in the fabric that is on each side of the zipper

How do you clean your tarnished hardware without getting any cleaner in the cloth that lines the zipper?
