I received my preloved Trousse 28 last week and it was in amazing condition but the zipper was a little stiff. I didn’t want to risk breaking the zipper pull so I did the old “wax paper trick”

This trick has made the zippers on my pochettes, toiletry pouches, wallets - zip smooth like butter.

It has definitely freed up the Trousse’s zipper some but it isn’t as smooth as I need to feel comfortable not possibly breaking the zipper pull.

Any other tips for a sticky zipper that I can try??

Hey All! Long time listener, first time caller :amuse:

I've recently started a little vintage LV collection and need some advice on rehabbing a couple items.

-1987 Keepall 50 in great shape after some cleaning and conditioning.

-1990 Speedy 35 Boston arriving from Japan in a couple days - https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Auth-Louis-Vuitton-Monogram-Speedy-35-Boston-Hand-Bag-Brown-9D040150M/123795830932?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I have Apple cleaner on hand, Cadillac care lotion on the way, brass polish and just bought a large pack of Magic Erasers - wish me luck + will keep you posted! This is my long sought after "birthday bag". It was made/born the month and year I was!

-1984 Passport Clutch Wallet - dirty, dry, pen marks, glazing is peeling, interior pocket is peeling off large flakesView attachment 4467038 View attachment 4467039 View attachment 4467038 View attachment 4467039

- 1984 Mallatier Zip Agenda - Supposedly very rare ( I've only seen one other online!) but in rough shape. Bad pen marks inside, bad damage to the corners where the canvas is, stiff zipper.

After reading MANY of the threads on here - I'm feeling quite confident on cleaning my new Speedy (I had practice and great success with the Keepall) but I do need some help with the wallet and agenda. In you options - should I try to repair the damaged glaze on the Wallet and damaged canvas on the Agenda with some Edge Kote?

I was planning to try to glue the corners of the Agenda then fill with some Edge Kote, but since this is a "rare" piece, I don't want to mess it up.

Has anyone had experience with repairing peeling inside the pockets? I'm not sure how to tackle the large flakes inside the wallet flap - should I just peel it off? Should I try to glue it down?

Thanks in advance!

I dyed a transferred stained LV Vernis zippy, I used fiebings and did a combo of burgundy and black the originial color was like dune and it had black dots all over it from ink

Looks great, I love the colour! I also dyed the same piece (and have done several others). I’ve only ever dyed the outside and have left the inside the original colour. How did you find it dyeing the inside and also the zipper? I wasn’t sure about using the dye on the soft leather inside or the fabric.

dying the inside on the cles was hard the outside pocket never took color it turned kind of a nice light grey but the inside pocket took color and turned a weird shade of red so i decided to just go for black and it did pretty well i kinda like the look of it in there nice and even dark maybe it will fade with use? the zipper i dyed but it will fade i use fabric markers to redo it when it fades, on the zippy i used fabric makers a mix of brown and red to stay with the oxblood theme and left the inside tan.

So this little nugget is a 31 year old Speedy 25

I just received her last week and have been cleaning canvas and primarily focusing on conditioning her obviously dry Vachetta. The canvas is in great shape with no cracks and no corner rubs, amazingly. The zip tab has been replaced at some point and is lighter but is not bad. For conditioning, I have been using Cadillac. Just ordered LMB cleaner and conditioner but it won’t be in for several days. I’m trying to hydrate the leather as much as possible.

The problem......seller stated “slight storage odor”, ok fine. It arrived and I could practically smell it through the packaging. I have 4 other preloved LV’s (all at least 15 years or older) without an odor issue but this bag is significantly older. I initially thought it was the interior. That has clarified for the most part. It is mostly from the canvas and handles and smells “old”....not smoky, no moldy, just a weird smell.

This is what I have tried so far over the course of a week (moderate improvement):
- cleaning canvas with soft brush (water/mild soap)
- wiping leather lightly with non-alcohol / non-fragrance wipes
- Ozium inside bag....initially closed then left open
- leave opened bag outside in the shade for hours at a time
- newspaper/paper towels sprayed with Odoban left inside bag
- dryer sheet (not directly touching interior) in bag
- charcoal bags in bag

Has anyone had success with cedar for odor? Any other ideas ladies? Thanks for any input!

Edited to add:
Pics are a few before/after of Vachetta so far....not much cleaning as they are so dry

Looks fantastic! Congrats and thank you for posting so much detail, this will be really helpful to many others. I have no experience with cedar specifically but just wanted to say that most light odor will fade with time and use. I put dryer sheets in (they have been fine in contact with the lining and don’t cause a problem) and left it in a dust bag when’s not using, when I come to use the bag again the smell has faded even more. I realise it may take a while however as cedar is quite strong.

Hey all looking for advice on my LV bags plz! Not fluent with this site yet, so sorry if not the right place to post.

Ive been interested in the idea of a leather filler for the Noe and a bendy glue and patch for the Speedy handle. I would like to dye them black after doing some repairs so assume it would cover up the colour differences from glue and leather filler.

I would love some advice especially from anyone who has dealt with rips and cracks like this before.

Im not intersted in taking the bags to LV though (I want to be very clear about that), as Im vegan and only okay with using my old bags, but not okay with getting new leather.

*The white stuff is my apple leather conditioner.
Thanks!

This is going to sound funny but at the auto parts store they sell a car mildew spray that you can spray in the bad and zip it up to help reduce the odor!
