Hello!
I have some general cleaning questions.
I promise I looked though the forums but can’t seem to find the answer to my question.

I recently bought a vintage Louis, and it’s getting here today! Much faster than I expected!

Does Apple Care Conditioner clean the bag?

I want to give it a light clean, and a good condition.
followed by the waterproof Apple Garde.

I’ve heard Apple cleaner can be too harsh for old bags.

So come people skip it and use conditioner. Does the conditioner clean it?
I’d hate to just keep applying conditioner over dirt.

At minimum I want to condition the bag and apply water garde. But I’d like to clean it as welll. possibly lighten dark spots, and some areas of the vachetta.

I also do not want to use a magic eraser.

Any help/opinions would be appreciated.

Bump :)
Still looking for some advice

Hi! What’s the best way to clean a vintage LV Petit Noe? I’ve just purchased one from 1998 but like to give it some tlc? Thanks!
I'm currently in the process of cleaning a vintage epi Alma PM from 1996. I ordered Lexol leather cleaner and it works great for dark spots, at least in unnatural light (will check in natural light tomorrow). I used a generic brand brass cleaner and wow, that makes a huge difference! I haven't conditioned the bag yet but I'll get Lexol for that, too.

Do you have pictures? Any stains or marks?

Does anyone know what to do when the brass/gold hardware starts to turn silver? I have an older Favorite and the D-ring on one side is changing color to silver [emoji15]. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I just picked up this almost-20-year-old (November 1999) Danube PM from a Japanese seller. I got it for a steal, and it came in much better shape than I had anticipated. The outside pocket was flaking horribly however, but all it took was scrubbing with some dry paper towels, and the flakes came right out - much easier than I thought it would be. Now it is a smooth black canvas with zero flaking! The canvas was quite stiff, so I massaged it with some saddle soap to clean and condition. I polished the hardware with Brasso, and took some water and Oxyclean to the stitching that holds the chaps on the side as the rust from the rivets had turned them green. The inside was in perfect condition, so there was nothing to do there. It is now resting with some Bounce sheets inside as it had a slight perfume smell. Now the bag is soft, pliable, has a nice, even patina, and shiny hardware. The first photo is the before (I didn’t get detail shots because I was excited to get to work in it), and the last photo is the towel I used to clean the canvas, leather, and hardware. It’s crazy how much dirt is on seemingly clean canvas!
Thanks for letting me share!

I have used AppleGuard Leather Cleaner and Conditioner on all my Vintage and new LV bags for at least the past 10 years, never had a problem. I also use alcohol & fragrance free baby wipes to clean my bags, Cadillac Conditioner & Cleaner, and I spray the vachetta with AppleGuard Rain & Stain Repellent on all my bags. I have used magic eraser as well, on preloved bags that were very well used IMO. It solely depends on the condition of the bag if I choose to use magic eraser. I’ve never had a problem and I enjoy restoring Vintage and or discontinued preloved bags.

So happy I found this ...I didn’t know they can replace the vachetta on your bags. Definitely going to do that before I bring my Gracefull back out in the fall. Mine doesn’t look to bad but I definitely like the new crisp look.

Anyone know how I can clean the markings on the inside of my bag? I have the pink/magenta interior.
