Which would you pick between these two? The first has a deeper purple patch but the rest of the bangle is a light green/white.

The second one has a more even lavender color and vibrant green streak. Also slightly more translucent.

This is a hard one because they are both complimentary to each other. My first instinct is the 1st one because I like the balance of the purple & green but you really can't go wrong with either... the 2nd one does have it's appeal, colours more even and vivid.

They will be a matching pair

Traditionally, women bought two bangles that came from the same rough stone at a given time... Just in case one breaks, there is a backup. Because each jade bangle is so unique, it would be near impossible to find a replacement.

My hinged bangle is coming today. I can hardly wait to see it. Excited!!
That is so cool! I mostly wanted it because it has a better texture than cotton candy, and no chips. I finally received it, and I must admit, the texture is heavenly, but the colors are more vibrant in cotton candy. I don’t regret my purchase though. It was freezing cold, and a very good weight for the price.

I have sent a few pieces to Mason Kay. They provide thorough testing, and for an additional fee they will appraise the item for you. The whole process took a few weeks. I was comfortable sending the bangles to them via USPS. with insurance and tracking of course!
I think for resale purposes a certificate from GIA is more universally recognizable.
From which seller did you send to get tested? Did any sellers give you treated bangles?

So it arrived. It is not completely what I was expecting... It has a green tinge and I thought it was completely white. What do you guys think?

The good this is it fits the wrist quite nicely since it isn't as bulky as the other two bangles. Would probably pair up nicely with the other jadeite pieces too.

I love this bangle! It does seem to change colors, but to me that is a plus. It means it can match with more outfits. Plus the green color is so gentle and sweet.

0EBE32DC-A16F-4D2E-BA77-383B1FB0FE51.jpegCotton Candy’s sister finally came in! She’s a very feminine and gentle color. Mostly green/white with a splash of lavender. The texture seems fine over all, and I barely notice the crack line that was mentioned. However, I the surface of the bangle looks, mottled in a way? It feels smooth to the touch, but when looking at it in light, it looks almost as if there’s speckles of different texture? I don’t know how to describe it. It feels very well waxed. To the point that when i received it, it felt kinda tacky and dirty, so I gave it a nice soapy rinse. Has anyone had a texture like this before? Like I said, it isn’t rough, but looks jelly like with splotches of uneven surface.

Thank you. I have decided to keep it as I find myself wearing it a lot! It is very comfortable.

I especially love the texture and the mottling. It has an old world charm to it... This kind of jadeite reminds a lot of the vintage ones. Just beautiful.

Thank you! I will say one thing, it is surprisingly heavy in comparison to similarly sized bangles in my collection. This new one and Cotton Candy feel so dense.

When I shine a light on my new bangle, is see random sparkles. I usually see this on my more sugary bangles. I don’t see this on my nicer textured bangles. I can also feel two scratches that were not advertised. I’m not sure if I’m making a fuss over nothing.

How interesting! Well they always say quality goods are heavier than the norm.

I was just thinking... I have come across the term 'old pit Jade' when researching articles on jadeite. Does anyone have any clue or tips on how to distinguish between old pit and newer mined jadeite? I am curious about newer pieces that are made of old pit Jade and would love to see examples.

Here is an example. I was able to take a picture of the mottling.

As you can, the mottling looks like little uneven patches. Almost like scratches, but they’re smooth. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s well waxed, or just a natural aspect of the jadeite. But it’s noticeable when compared to my finest jadeite bangle.

Compare the shots to Legolas, who literally looks like they glow.

I just don’t like how this new bangle was advertised as fine texture, when it is clearly medium fine.

From the pics it looks really pretty.
My jadeite bangle with the green streak has cotton inclusions in some areas. I still love it flaws and all.

About the scratches, for me it would depend on how deep, long and visible they are.

I was told old pit had a better translucency. I was told this was old pit. However I’m not sure, since old pit is also considered the old colors. Like your Apple greens, and lavenders. This bangle is a mix of green and gray.

Yes, that's a good way to describe it haha. I'll definitely watch this over the weekend. Thanks for sharing!

She follows me everywhere. Lovesss the attention this one...

Thanks! Slim bangles are more versatile and you can stack them. Are you eyeing a potential piece?

Lovely pieces pureplatinum! What stone is the pink coloured bangle? Is it rose quartz?
Would you be surprised if I told you the second one is significantly pricier than the first? I originally had my heart set on the first and wA going to check out but then the vibrant green and translucency in the second caught my eye.

It’s a rather tough one for me. Both are lovely. I like the subtle changes of hues on the first one but I think the second one glows a tad bit more. I suppose if you like the flash of green, then go for the second? Can’t go wrong either way.

It certainly appears very glossy. Very fine indeed!

I guess it does make sense since purple hues are very desirable and this bangle is predominantly lavender. When you say significantly pricier, by how much if you don't mind me asking? Because the price would definitely influence my decision when choosing between two bangles.
