This pendant was passed down from my grandpa, and it originally belonged to my grandma. I don’t know much about jade, but I went to a jade shop to get it strung. I’ve seen a lot of people wear theirs that way, so I thought I’d do the same. While I was there, I asked if they could tell me anything about its quality, but there was language barrier, and gave me a gemologist card to contact.

I read online that you should hold jade up to the light to check for transparency. I tried, but honestly, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking for. If this turns out to be decent quality, I’d love to upgrade the necklace part to something nicer. Would anyone here be able to give insight on what kind of jade this is? And is it worth sending to a gemologist for proper identification?

Hi everyone, I’m splurging on an anniversary gift and need your opinion on these two bangles. Which would you choose?

Green one has no stone lines. Lavender bangle has some stone lines inside and is a slightly thicker/heavier bangle. Both are 5 digits with the lavender being more expensive.

Also including photos from the seller’s website which are slightly more vibrant than the screenshots I took.

Hi everyone, I’m very close to purchasing and wanted to share an updated photo of the lavender bangle in different lighting. I’m still debating between the two but kind of leaning towards lavender more. Only thing is that the lavender is 9.6mm thick and the green is 8mm. Anyone have feedback regarding the thickness? Is it uncomfortable or more prone to hitting things?

The clasp you are using will cause the inside of the hole to turn black over time if not sterling silver. That happend to a few of mine sadly. The pendant looks like jadeite, but if you put a uv light o it you can see if it’s color treated or not. It’s very pretty!

Hello all. I am going to be in LA for a few dats and hoping to buy a new bangle. Does anyone have any recommendations? I found a few through google search Sing yan and a few others but hoping for first hand experience..

Thank you for any insight

Hi. I am hoping to get some help with a Jade bangle I was given years ago. I don't have any valuation or paperwork on it and no one in Australia values jade. I am hoping to sell it as I never wear it and wondering if anyone has any idea of possible value. I do know when it was purchased 25 years ago it was quite expensive. If you have any clues I would appreciate the insight.

Hi, very long time lurker here but absolute Jade fanatic with a lot of experience purchasing bangles (collection of 40 so far😳)-without a certificate it will be harder to sell for an appropriate amount. There is a gem studies lab in Sydney that you may be able to mail it to, they can certify Jade: https://www.gemstudieslaboratory.com.au/coloured-gemstones.html. This is one in Queensland that also grades Jade: https://spectra.net.au/reporting/

Jade pricing can seem a bit arbitrary, often based on what the seller deems valuable. But without a certificate the absolute highest you could go would be $300. It would be too big a risk for any knowledgeable buyer. It is very pretty though! Is it lavender based or white?

Agree it’s a pretty piece!
Generally I think jade bangle is a little tricky to resell as the perceived value is at times depends on the eye of the beholder. I have sold some of mine before and I think it’s all about the right timing and right buyer (and bangle size matters too).

Not sure how Australia works but hope it goes to the right jade wearer soon.
