Hi ladies, lots of gorgeous pieces in this thread. I am looking for my FIRST bangle. Looking for a classic, everyday piece, hopefully not exceeding $1K. Maybe you can help me pick from the ff

1. First one- I love the transparency but has anyone heard of this seller? lixiaohong668

2. Second one- this is the type of jade I've seen most often - usually gifts from a mother-in-law to a daughter in law:

4. Fourth one: I love the honey yellow color. but for my first jade bangle? - you think it's a good idea?

thanks!

4th one! >.< I wanted it too! I thought it was such an unusual but unique colour. I eventually picked one with a splash of reddish brown and I loved it so much I bought another one in a similar colour.

But of course keep in mind that you should pick a bangle with which you are completely comfortable to wear daily. Maybe you can consider your wardrobe and see which bangle fits your colour tone best. But then again I believe that you must pick the one you love BEST so you won't regret it. Lol I once discouraged my colleague from buying an expensive impulse buy bracelet. She went home, sulked about it, dreamt of it and convinced herself she NEEDED it the next day. And so she went back and bought it. of well ~

Finally wearing a bangle again - although it looks really bad, it doesn't feel as bad. Hit my inner forearm the railing post on my way down the slick front steps. Thanks for the sympathy, Claire and Molly! 😚 I can't tell you how much I missed having a bangle on my wrist these past few days!

Ooo, looks painful! Poor thing :( I fell too just 2 days back. Apparently for some reason they decided to build a tiny hidden step on the last step down a flight of stairs. I slid and ended up sprawled next to this guy sitting a couple meters away. Urgh. Embarrassing to say the least. His eyes were o.O luckily for me, the only thing bruised was my pride :(

thanks!

Glam, I love both the first one and the last one! The first is just a lovely translucent pretty shade of gteen and the last one is boldly unique.

Awww, thanks Ms Lin! I'm very glad you were not hurt!!! I'm also glad I was not wearing a bangle on that arm at the time or I surely would have cracked it. I'd much rather have a bad bruise than a cracked bangle 😛

Glamstudio, Welcome! I think they are all lovely for different reasons, which is why it can be so hard with jade, because each piece really is it's own world. For choosing your first bangle, I would think about the qualities which you want most. For example, would you prefer strong color over translucence, or the other way around? Do you like the transitions within a piece, or the evenness. These kind of questions about which qualities your looking for can help a lot when you're surrounded with so many choices!
Regarding color, if you wear yellow gold, then I think the yellow bangle will be fine on you. If you're not sure about yellow, maybe it would be best to go with something more neutral or less strong to start. Whatever you choose, it will be lovely and please keep us posted!

Also, the seller is legit I believe...it's jade nature shop. Though I've never bought from them, I do believe that they are . One can always check a cert online to be sure. Anyone ever bought from them before?

Fluffy pants, lol, thank you! Upon looking at those pics, my daughters outfit is blindingly ugly lol! I have to laugh at teens sometimes!

! The choices in jade can be overwhelming. What helped me to understand more the prices and to form my own style, was thinking about all the qualities that jade has. With prices, for each good quality a jade has, the price goes up exponentially. Like a slot machine in Las Vegas, getting one or two winning icons is not that rare, but to get 3, then 4, each addition makes a piece much rarer and more expensive.
So, to get the best for your money, it's helpful to know which qualities attract you and are most important, and which you can do without. Qualities like, the poetry of color and pattern transitions (my fav), grain size, color saturation or purity, translucence, flaws, skill of craftsmanship, rarity of material (more applicable to nephrite jade.)

And then, even with this in mind, we see pieces which are so different. Then what we thought would attract us! Can be so overwhelming!

crosso, so sorry about your fall and glad you were not hurt too bad and that a jade bangle didn't "take the fall" for you! I forgot to say what a great find your seed bead bracelets are! I had started to look at some on Etsy awhile back and then forgot about them, so thanks for reminding me to relook at them. :smile1: What a pretty green your new pendant is and I also love the look of jade with pearls!
