I was wondering this too but mine does too! I think it’s striations in the leather (and it’s crinkled leather, although I thought the base was smooth). After I saw some pics some gabbys are more smooth and some more wrinkled at the base. Seeing both your pics puts me at ease!

It didn’t get worse too, at least mine didn’t...

Yes the new medium did come in the beige/black combo. I’ve tried it in the store before.

I’ve yet to see the new medium size available in the preloved market as of yet. I’ve been stalking.

Sorry for the late response- yes it is, and it’s quite a bit less than the bags with the novelty strap.
