Is there a purpose for the 2nd loop on the side of the bag? I have the small gabrielle . Is there some kind of configuration you are suppose to use it for?

I think you can hang bag charms or another mini bag from the second loop. It may be there for some bizarre configuration #8 or #234, but I hang a little stuffed bear from Germany.

Your calmness is lovely! I also had a mishap with the base of my shopping tote and was amazed at the lack of damage. So far it seems like a total workhorse bag!

Thank you. I was a kindergarten teacher for 14 years- my patience and understanding developed over years of work.

I have decided to buy bags, with the mindset- I like them and want to happily use them for years. I don't want to worry about keeping them pristine for resale. I have enjoyed my bags so much more post new attitude. :happydance::yahoo::hbeat:

LOL - and you must have been a wonderful teacher.

I totally agree with your mindset! Bags are meant to be used and enjoyed. I have decided to limit my collection to the designated space I have for bags in my closet and make an effort to rotate, rotate, rotate so they all get some love. If one is not used for 6 months or so (unless it's seasonal) it needs re-homing.

I also agree with you about not worrying too much about resale but I have also learned never to fall in love again with any bag from certain brands that really just don't hold any reasonable value, no matter what condition they are in. I don't think it's a coincidence that none of those brands are French! Lol.

Hi guys, I'm so glad that the Gabrielle have lots of following as I really adore this bag

To tell you the truth initially I did not like the Gabrielle from looking at the ad, even though Pharell himself starred in it. I have been trying my way for years to convince myself to own a Chanel bag, because I was a very Fendi type of boy, already having the Selleria Peekaboo, I'd rather spend my fortune in Fendi charms and straps to accesorize it. I was really drawn into the Chanel boy, but I have tried it on in the boutique multiple times just to find that it's strap is not long enough for me (I'm 6'0/183cm).

But one night, one particular magical night, while I was just accompanying my friend to a Chanel boutique in Plaza Indonesia, took a look at the large hobo bag and asked the SA, "Oh that one must've been the size that Pharell wore", and the SA suggest me to try it on. At first I was thinking that there's no way I'm gonna like this bag, but there's a thing called a "meant to be" moment, the moment I tried it on I was in awe! It was the most exhilarating bag-moment of my life. Next thing I know, I swiped my card and went home with the biggest smile on my face and the warmest fudge in my heart :D.

To sum up my rant:
1. If you already love Chanel bag: buy the Gabrielle, as now is the most economical it will ever be. In the future the price will just gonna increase like the rest of the permanent bag
2. If you're a guy still confused whether you could pull a Pharell or not by using the Gabrielle: YOU COULD!!! Especially in 2017 where genders are all fluid, so does bag! GO BUY IT

ps: I really want the small one in navy, is it gonna be a foolish thing to do to own 2 hobos in different colors and sizes?

Thank you! I tried to be a good teacher. I know they had fun learning- my (old) students kept coming back to visit me, even when they were in high school. I had a lot of fun, too!

I whole heartedly agree with your statement about making thoughtful purchases. I have definitely limited my purchases to the space provided in my closet. I have a one in; one out rule- that makes me reeeeeeeallllly think about my need (ha!) for a new bag. Like you, I buy only sellable brands, even though at the time of purchase I don't think resale. I try not to be naive- I know reselling might be in my future.
My thing is to stay with brands that rarely or never get marked down. Though I don't buy LV any longer, that was my draw to that company. I try to buy from department stores where I can ecru points, and I use a mileage credit card. I realize even Hermes has their annual sale, but I'm usually attracted to the classic styles and those rarely go down in price.

Love your post!

You look great!!!!! This bag style suits you.

My SA wants me to send a reminder to Gabrielle owners:
Please do not wrap your shoulder strap chains around the base. The chain will leave permanent marks (that look like little teeth marks). I guess Chanel boutiques are getting some customers coming back complaining about trashed bases from storing bags incorrectly. When I bought my bag, my SA told me to store the chain at all times inside the bag. I don't know if that message was not universally communicated, but some SA's are begging people to get the message out.

Enjoy your weekend, carry a Chanel!!!!!!!

Dear all gabrielle lovers, I went to Rue Cambon yesterday just a little pass 10 and there was already a queue in the store! It was pretty quiet but around 5-6 people already stood in line to get served by the SA's. I didn't know there were people in the queue already so I told the host I wanted to see the gabrielle bag and she told me she was only the host so I should stand in line and wait until it was my turn.

After a minute or two one SA came to me and asked if I was the one who wanted to see the gabrielle bag and she took me out of the queue (which I don't know why) and showed me the small gabrielle bag I wanted to see. Unfortunately they only had the gold in small size and I was looking for the black. Then she told me they already received the prefall gabrielle bags if I wanted to see them - and if I want to I could buy them (apparently it was a pre-sale day before they officially launch the collection next week). I was shown the blue and green (dark green) but they were not what I was looking for......so I didn't get the gabrielle bag I was looking for...it seems like the only small black gabrielle hobo for prefall is the one with lucky charm from Ritz Carlton theme...

I personally think the dark green is pretty but my husband shook his head in disapproval. I will keep searching if other stores in Europe will have the all black small size or I guess I'll have to be patient :(

And here is the gold and dark green gabrielle I saw yesterday, I didn't take picture of the blue because I didn't like it personally.

The dark green gabrielle in small size, almost like black under the lighting.
