Hi,

Can anyone tell me what buffalo shine leather is like? The Lily's on M.com are not in this leather and I am wondering if this is an older version and what it is like?

Thank you!

xx

Hi buffalo shine in Lily was out last year. I got mine from either selfridges or harrods last october.

I like it in black as it makes it a little more interesting for night time use. It is still fine to use during the day although I often reach for bigger bags then.

I am not sure how it would be on a biger bag like the Bays but on Lily it is fine.

Look through my thread in my signature and you will see the Lily.

Which colour buffalo shine do you mean Tara? I've got a Bayswater in Deer Brown. It's a lovely crinkly leather but not really very shiny! - actually not really shiny at all come to think of it.

If you have a look here, the close-up of the leather is exactly the texture of mine. (nothing like the picture of the whole bag though)

My buffalo shine bag is very crinkly and very creasy. It's had two months of almost daily use but isn't getting any slouchier, which I'm glad about. There's some pictures including close-ups of the leather on my thread 'A Bluewater Photoshoot' if you want to have a look.

Oh and I think (although I'm not certain) that buffalo shine is a bit lighter weight than NVT which suited me for a big bag like the Bayswater but probably isn't so important in small bags.

Also, Buffalo Shine leather seems to be a bit more substantial than the Buffalo leather used for Alexas.

Hope that helps a bit:smile1:

Hi ladies! Does any one have any experience with the silky snake textured leather? How does it wear and age?

Hi Sophia,
I bought the SBS in silky snake 14 months ago and I have just sent it back to Mulberry as I am appalled at how badly it has worn: leather dry and scales lifting (to the point people have asked how I 'damaged' my bag!), inking failing on long strap and strap seems to be weakened by the snake print as it is almost torn at one point, had to replace the turn lock after just 2 months as the gold plating was flaking off.... The list goes on. And all this from my very first Mulberry bag that I babied and cared for. Not what I'd expect from a £700+ bag. I doubt it will last another 12 months! Gutted.
I'd avoid the silky snake of the oak SBS. It's a beautiful finish but I don't think it's a coincidence that the new silky snake print is made of much larger more robust scales.

Hello, I am new to Mulberry bags and was wondering how do you tell which bag is made of which leather? I mean I have just bought the Taylor and in the description it is "smooth leather"...I am not sure what that means, is this durable ? apparently it is easily scratched but I think being not pebbled means that it won't trap dirt easily? is that correct?

Hidden away in the depths of mulberry.com is information on the different types of leather - go here to find their advice on smooth leather.

Having said that, there's nothing like hearing from people who actually own bags in that leather, so hopefully someone will come along to share their experiences:smile1:

Hi everyone first post, (reposted here) first online purchase, freaking out! I was interested in the Small Heritage Baywater Satchel in fudge high pebbled matt but it had sold out. Went back to look tonight and had one in stock, managed to purchase it but am wondering what the maintenance is like and how easily marked the leather is. Have looked at the leather guides but was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I am a Mulberry virgin and my heart is still beating fast from the purchase. Typing this quickly as my husband walks the dog!!!

Very hidden away in its depths. I've never noticed that before but very useful, thank you Plemont! :)

Hi LolaKim - welcome, and congratulations on your purchase!

I think it would be best if you start a new thread in the main section and then other owners of this bag can chime in with their experiences and experiences/advice, as they might not find your question on this thread. :smile1:

Does anyone have any info about Glossy Goat Leather? It's not included in the material care section on m.com for some reason. I was wondering which variant of Collonil would be appropriate and how it wears (the small info section on the product's page is a bit vague).

I have polished goat? Is that the same? If so, I have not sprayed or protected my bays in anyway and she iis incredibly hard wearing, doesn't mind getting wet and best of all she's super light!!
