Hi there!

Fabulous choice by the way! Although to my eye I can’t see it, my pennies worth of advice is to go back to Chanel and ask to see the same bag(bring yours discretely with all its wrapping and receipt) inspect the new one and consider if it’s in better condition than yours.

If not just enjoy your beauty knowing you did an extra quality checked with peace of mind. If it is better than yours and you know you will be happier with the one in front of you in boutique, then let the assistant know you want to exchange it and explain your observations... but that’s just me I am super OCD about all lux bags I buy- to the alignment of monogram prints and even down to stitching and/or glazing details.

I want to enjoy my purchases without any doubt that I selected the exact right piece for me. Very laborious I know but at those prices it is justified....

Enjoy in good health LittleJenJen

Thank you so much for your comment and advice! I really appreciate it! That sounds like a great idea. I will do exactly that, just for my peace of mind. :)

finally i have found a decent photo (this is the shiny ghw) do you still prefer the antique one?

Yes if the antique one was the top photo in your other post. It was a more yellow gold and I like that BUT since the shiny one looks less gold maybe that one would go better if you plan on carrying it when you’re wearing silver jewelry? Does one call out to you more than the other?

Hi everyone!
I just bought my very first Chanel Bag - a black grained calfskin medium boy with ruthenium finish. It's exactly what I want. I obviously inspected in the store and when I came home I immediately tried it on again.

As this is my first bag I am a bit OCD about everything. I noticed that the metal strap is very close to the purse top when worn over the holder/as a cross bag - is that normal? On some pictures on the internet there seems to be quite a gap, which obviously would be better as the metal wouldn't rub agains the leather when wearing it. See picture.

Secondly, I've looked at it closely from the sides and there is different sized gap when closed between the bag and flap on each side (one side has a much smaller gap). You can see the difference slightly from the top as well. I have attached pictures.

Basically I just want someone (or a few people ) to tell me that I either need to chill/I am crazy , and this is normal, or that this isn't normal and I should get a different one. ANY advice, comments, help would be greatly appreciated for this first time buyer!

THANK YOU!

It looks totally fine. I'd be so happy with that bag!

thank you for your reply! very helpful. At this stage, I am more inclined to the antique ghw cause it looks more classic in my opinion.

But my concern is i am afraid it could turn yellowish very quickly and get dirty so easily. coz after all, it is an expensive bag. i hope i could use it for so many years so im still debating whether i should get a white boy chanel

I have a white caviar flap bag and it’s probably 10 years old if not more, and it hasn’t yellowed or gotten dirty yet. But I have to say I am careful with it and for me it’s a seasonal bag so it’s not getting a lot of use.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy my first Chanel and have been eyeing on the Boy bag. I have two questions:
  1. Do they still sell the medium caviar leather in gold hardware? It's not on the website.
  2. What happened to the old medium? Is the one listed on the website without the size the old or the new medium? Do they still sell the old medium?
  3. Can the new medium still be worn as a crossbody?
I would really appreciate the replies.

Hi! I just bought the medium caviar leather with ruthenium finish in London and they showed me the gold and 'champagne' chain versions as well. So at least in the London store they still had it. I've got the old medium and wasn't shown any new mediums.
