I have recently been looking into a new work tote and am considering the cerf tote! I have not seen the smaller size in store but have tried on the normal size. I like that it has a wider base that is not limited by a permanent divider in the middle.

My only concern is the weight of the bag.

Can any owners advise whether the weight becomes on issue to carry around by hand or crook of the arm? I know that it comes with a long strap which I can use to carry over the shoulder, however, it misshapes the bag and I really don't like the look of that.

I hope to hear from some experienced owners to help with my decision making process! :)

I just purchased a cerf tote over the weekend in the large size and am experiencing the same issue with the weight of the bag. I bought it with the intention of using it as a work bag, so I wanted it to be able to carry my laptop, A4 papers and things. However, after just placing in a few essentials such as my long wallet, makeup bag, water bottle, etc I was alarmed at how heavy it already was. I thought there was no way I was going to schlep that to and from work everyday so I'm not sure what I should do either. The large size is 14 inches x 9 inches x 6 inches and looks funny with the shoulder strap imo.

I can fit half of what I usually carry in my lv neverfull, made me realize what a great bag the neverfull was, so light and functional. Definitely a HTH but I wanted a more professional looking bag for work, I'm not sure if I should go and exchange for the cerf tote in medium size..

I have the Cerf Tote in the larger ( Medium) size, but I don't use it as a work tote. I carry it as my daily handbag. I carry a full size leather wallet, cosmetic pouch, checkbook, sunglasses, I phone, LV key cles, tissues, mints small planner. Occasionally I'll have a small bottle of water and, if traveling, a few additional items. All of the above easily fits and I do not find the bag too heavy, nor do the contents change the shape of the bag. I keep the shoulder strap attached, but seldom carry using rhe strap. For the purposes I stated, it's a great bag.

After having reservations about the large size, I went in today and exchanged it for the medium size and am much happier with it. The medium size holds its shape much better and looks perfect with or without the shoulder strap. I felt the larger cerf tote looked too overwhelming to be used with the shoulder strap on my frame.

Glad you decided to exchange it! I have had the medium size for 3 years now and my bag is still in great shape. I can carry my laptop in there too although I don't do this often and use mine more as a purse. Hope you enjoy your new cerf!

I was in the Sloan street store in London asking about a cerf as its the only Chanel that works for me and the sales assistant was so ridiculously rude unhelpful that he said the cerf tote isn't in production this season and that Chanel "don't name their bags"

What do you think guys ?. I smell lies !.

I went to harrods 10 minuets after and seen a bubble gum pink cerf priced at just under £2,000 , that was about a week ago, so the Sloan street SA was very wrong and very rude.

That's ridiculous! I was at Selfridges a month ago and the SA there showed me two different credit colors and said that these colors were from the new collection (rose and peach).
However she also didn't know what I meant by "cerf". She reacted on "executive tote" ;-).

Yes, harrods only responded to executive tote too. It's so irritating when SA's lie, I was ready to buy a cerf that day but because I believed him and though they weren't available this season I bought something smaller and will have to wait till I'm near a Chanel again. 😡😭

I don't understand why they do that, it's annoying because it would have been better to make the bigger item purchase before the price increase and get the smaller item later. You should definitely call in and voice a complaint. The cerf totes shouldn't be as difficult to get as they are part of the permanent collection (at least in colors like black) I don't understand their motivation for presenting customers with such misleading information. How irritating 😠

I love how the medium size isn't as prone to slouching at the base. The large size that I recently exchanged was slouching even before its first use. Just sitting on the table, the base corners would just sorta slump inwards and that really annoyed me. I would definitely recommend getting the medium size for the cerf 😸

I will just have to wait for the cerf, the cerf and a cosmetics bag are the only things I "need" right now 😄. But I'm not sure if Chanel currently make a cosmetics bag so I might just pick up the cerf when I'm in Rome in May, hopefully I get a better SA 😁.

The large size (14.5L x 9.5W x 6depth) in inches is currently 3,865.

The medium (which is what I exchanged the large one for) is 3,625. I believe there is also a small size, but I don't like the look of the small. I think the medium and large size are the only two I would consider between and the price difference isn't really significant, but depends on what function you want the bag to serve I suppose.

I brought my books and papers with me and was able to get them to fit into the medium size. Originally chose the large thinking I would be able to fit my large laptop in, but once i brought it home I immediately changed my mind. It's much too heavy so at most, I would only carry with me a mini size laptop if I really required one..

While I was there, I tried asking the SAs when the price increase was expected to take effect, they told me that even they didn't know. Last year the way it worked was that they received an email, and then that very afternoon, they applied the new prices to each category of bags. So even the manager couldn't tell me when the exact date of the increase was, but if I had to guess I would expect it to be around the beginning of April or May at the latest..
