I can't decide to between the maxi jumbo classic flap in black with shw or the large exec in black with shw. The exec is half the price and more practical for Uni I think?

Opinions. Anyone have both. Which do you use more and when!

I purchased a used reissue cerf tote a month ago which I greatly regret. It's far too small for me and my needs and today I look down and this is happening:

My strap won't stay up!!! Has this happen to anyone? Is this just a matter of needing a stitch or two replaced?

I wish I could just sell it but I didn't realize I purchased it so over priced and cosigners are only willing to give me like half of what I spent.

Hi ladies, thinking about the cerf tote. Was gonna get the gst but the weight made me second guess and then I fell in love with the cerf!

I have the option of getting a preowned blue with silver hw (17xxxx series) or brand new blk with GHW. Here's my dilemma: I don't know which is a better choice. The pre loved bag is in great condition, I like the lighter gray interior (so it's not a black hole) and I can save some $$$ getting it preowned. But I don't know if the blue is not neutral enuf to go with most outfits.

The blk is gorg and a classic but I wish it was Shw only bec I feel like shw goes better with my more casual lifestyle. I have called a bunch of chanels and they don't have shw in reg size (they only had small cerf size and all GHW). The blk is also pebbled leather and my SA says it will hold shape better longer than older leather. I love that it's blk, so beautiful. Right now leaning towards blk over the blue. Only hesitating bec it's GHW. What do u think of gold vs silver? Does it really matter ?

I can understand your dillema, but if you can afford the new one, i would go for that one.
I'm waiting for my black cerf also, as i have been on the waiting list since week before christmas. My SA told me that the new one holds its shape beter than the older one, just like you have been told, so that's a big plus!
As for the hardware, i personaly prefer GHW over SHW, but i do get where you're coming from as SHW is a bit more casual. I think with the cerf though the difference is very small, because it doesn't have a lot of hardware like a GST or classic flap.

Thanks JCMB. I just did not realize that cerfs were so elusive. For some reason, I thought they would be part of the classics and be easier to find, but every chanel I've called has a wait list for SHW. Granted I've only called Saks and Nordies (for the pts). Luckily I was able to find GHW at my local Saks and my SA is putting it on hold for me until she's back to work on Tuesday. Gold is a classic and my mom is convincing me that long term, you can't go wrong with gold. Thanks for ur advice!

I'm not a Chanel expert, but i was told at 3 different Chanel boutiques that the regular size cerf is no longer part of the classic line and is now a seasonal bag, so that's why i had to wait so long. I hope i'll get a call soon. Are u going to do a reveal?

I owned a GST and also recenlty purchased the new Executive seasonal 'grained calfskin' and I MUST tell you that the executive is considerably heavier than the GST. It is so heavy that I do not use it as an everyday bag, plus the only comfortable option due to the weight would be shoulder carry, however this is awkward as the straps are not quite long enough for it to be comfortable.
I strongly urge you to reconsider the GST if you are worried about the weight.

Regards the different leather, the grained calfskin (nubuck like leather) will not be as durable, after using my bag for only 1 week and only carrying my wallet, phone, keys and make up pouch, it was already sagging drastically.
It looks beautiful but for me it is no where near as practical as a day bag as my GST. If only using for work or travel then its probably okay but not everyday! Don't make the expensive mistake I did! $4,240 AUD later and I could have used that money a lot more wisely.

In Australia they are much more readily available. Like mentioned above I own the new seasonal grained calfskin and I will tell you now, after using it for a week the shape is no where near as structured as the one with classic calfskin that my mother owns.
If you are worried about it losing shape please reconsider the classic one, not grained calfskin! I feel like I was slightly 'tricked' by my SA who is the store manager, the bag definitely does not hold its shape and it is crazy heavy!!!

I can tell you after visiting the Chadstone boutique in Melbourne Australia, they have two regular size cerf totes with the classic calfskin, they are part of the classic, permanent collection, it just depends on whether they have them in stock as they are not as readily available as other classic line items.

The seasonal bag is also larger, much more practical as a work bag, the classic is slightly smaller in all dimensions (even strap length) as I compared them today after purchasing my seasonal grained calfskin roughly a month ago.

Just to clarify, the seasonal is the grained calfskin with ONLY SHW and the classic normal calfskin is with either.

I own the seasonal exec tote with the grained calfskin and it is so heavy, even without anything in it! If you plan on carrying your notebooks, textbooks maybe even ipad, it will way a ton! I wish I had thought of this earlier as now after spending $4,240 AUD I am left with a bag that I am not going to use.

If you are after a good university bag, I recommend a Louis Vuitton Neverfull with the monogram canvas, damier canvas, as it is light, so when you add all your books etc, it is comfortable to carry :)

In terms of a Chanel suitable for Uni, they had some lovely new designs (similar in shape to the LV neverfull) that look much more practical for uni. They had long straps suitable for shoulder carry and lighter leather:D

Thank you antheakate! I am a chanel newbie so any info is greatly appreciated. When you say grained only comes in SHW, my SA is holding this bag for me in GHW until I stop by the boutique on Tue. It appears to have a grainier leather. Does the GHW mean this is the classic version and not the seasonal one? I can't wait to see it in person and def weigh it to make sure that I can use it as my work horse bag.
