If you can buy from T3 Heathrow its even better in terms of price, its only £1333.33 and SA there are quiet friendly as well 

Hi if it was £1600 it sounds like you have the classic size and I am sure they would not have put it in the wrong box, and the newer seasonal ones were definitely more than £1600 by quite a bit.
Funnily enough I went to Selfridges in London probably about 5 years ago now, before I knew much about Chanel and found them to be most unhelpful and rude. I am glad to hear that they are better now.
I am assuming you meant London Selfridges.
I actually use Manchester Selfridges now as all the SA's are lovely and it is a much better experience.

It was lovely, this bag is bought from Selfridges, London at retail price. Will do a reveal soon in another post what I've bought in T3 + my small chanel goodies from Selfridges..

Just bought this bag in black with shw and I adore it. They also had the deerskin in black for $300 USD more on display, but I opted for the classic b/c I was looking for a more shiny black tote with more sleek appeal. They both look beautiful, but the deerskin is seasonal and has that grain look to it, the size didn't seem much different to me.

Are there different skins? When I went to Chanel @NM and asked to see the Cerf she only showed me one choice ($3,000). I assumed it was deerskin. It was the medium size (not small and not executive).
I REALLY want this bag and heard from another tpf member that it is going up in price on October 14 ~ I have 4 days to convince my Husband!!!

Yes they are different skins. The seasonal bag is a deerskin that is softer and has a grain-like material very luxurious. The classic has more of a sheen leather or gloss to it. They are both beautiful but I personally liked the classic calf leather better.
