Not Balenciaga related but I did want to tell you about my great experience with Mercari for returns. I bought a Chloe paddington. And it was not at all as described . I’ll attach photos . They approved my return within 15 minutes of opening a claim and got me my money back after I shipped back right away. May I add the lock was completely broken and wouldn’t even close . First photo is the listing . As you can see it was severely dry and yellow. It honestly looked way worst in person than it did in photos.

I purchased a bag of Mercari last week and although the listing merely states "good condition", I DM'ed the seller and asked more specifics about condition before buying. Now that I received it, it is not as described in her messages and she has since said I can send it back. Going thru the return claim, I sent pix, and it has been almost 48 hours with no response from Mercari. 🤷
I'm nervous they won't approve it, even tho the seller said I can return it. Do they look thru private messages so they can see the written exchange?

I’m not sure if they look through previous conversations but I have screenshot conversations and included it in another claim before. There is a little help box you should be able to press to upload more information if you are on the app and have a claim open. If you upload the response that you can return it I don’t see why it wouldn’t be approved by them. It was just the weekend so they may be overwhelmed with claims from non business hours. I would just submit as much info as you can.

I was very thorough with locations and documenting the flaws compared to the photos, even offered video proof of the lock not locking etc. and compared it to the original listing .

The seller doesn't have any say in whether or not an item can be returned.

Oh wow! That's interesting! 🤔
thats true. I never even contacted the seller when I got the bag. I filed a claim right away because communicating with the seller has just delayed and made me frustrated in the past. especially with how far off the condition was off I didn’t want to take any chances .

Really? What a strange policy. It’s ultimately their sale.
As far as I know the seller doesn't have to pay the postage to ship it back to them and they don't have to reimburse the buyer for the postage they paid. Since Mercari bears those costs, they are the ones to make the decision.
