All I know is that it still looks like Rouge Theatre, and it’s gorgeous. Do you have another RT or bordeaux to photograph side by side?
No, but I've given up trying to figure it out
I used to have a Bordeaux City and it was dark with almost black undertones
I also had Rouge Theatre Work and it had no black undertone and was what I described as "blood red"
When I pulled this from the box, I knew it didn't look like the RT I used to have and looked more like my old Bordeaux.
I had posted pics of my old Bordeaux City tag to the Reference library and still had a pic of my RT Work tag saved to my PC
The tag of this bag matches my old Bordeaux & its color more closely resembled Bordeaux than my RT Work which is why I concluded its Bordeaux. But then I found a tassel from my RT that I had saved and used on the inside pocket of my TR and its almost a perfect match for the tassels on this bag (altho lighter than the body of the bag)

Maybe its the texture of the leather that throws off the color -- my RT was textured and spongey. My old Bordeaux was silky smooth. This bag is neither --while its soft, its got that brand new glaze that hasn't broken in at all. Maybe the color deposits differently

I've decided to keep it and love it no matter what color it is 🤷🏼‍♀️

@haisley -- can you compare the leather of your '12 Dark Violet and Eggplant?
I know the 04 leather is some of the best Balenciaga's ever produced & 2012 leather is agneau (lamb) not chevre (goat), but seeing your pics has made me curious

Can you describe it and tell us how you think it compares to Eggplant?
Is it as soft? silky? buttery? or is the leather dryer? rougher?
Just curious

Apologize for the delayed response, I’m just now seeing this!

To summarize the two colors in two words: Eggplant wins. 🍆🏆

I’ll do a side by side for you & describe the differences. I’m currently in the midst of reorganizing my closet so will likely get to this after Labor Day.

Useless declarations without photo evidence!! :rtr:

Do you live in a dry area? Colorado is very dry. I need half a bottle of Leather CPR per bag to notice a difference. :-s

No. Not happy now. Tortured now, thanks a lot. It looks edible. I think I have a problem.

I saw a red City for sale somewhere the other day...you want I should find it again?:graucho:
You two are hysterical! I could sit and read your conversations all day :drinks:
