Dear fellow Montsouris fans,

A few weeks ago I bought a Montsouris NM from 1995 from a japanese seller via ebay. It was supposed to be in perfect condition. And it was, sort of.
BUT: the vachetta leather is soo shiny especially the bottom of the backpack, as it is the largest leather part.
I start to wonder if the leather has been replaced outside of LV.
I own some bags monogram with vachetta leather from the boutique, none of the vachetta looks like this.
The leather is much more shiny than in pics.
What do you ladies think? I do not want to think the unthinkable, which would be that it is a F@@@..

Did you meant "GM" not the "NM"? NM means New Model, this is a Montsouris Old model vintage GM, from these two pictures I saw the bag looks authentic and appear as if in very good condition but I wouldn't buy it just my personal preference.

Yes, the backpack is a GM size. Sorry ..
the backpack is per se in a good condition.
Its just the leather parts that look somewhat off to me.
Maybe the leather has been treated with something or replaced.. I really do not know.
Maybe someone of you guys out there and experts have an idea as to why the leather parts look so shiny???
Could the parts have been buffed???

Conditioned? There's an authentication thread to post in if you're worried about authenticity.

Went to my local boutique today with the backpack. The SA told me that this is how the vachetta oxidizes over the years. I have several bags (even older ones e.g. Speedy) none looks like this backpack.
Told me that the leather and the backpack is in really good condition. Thx for trying to help..

Just received my vintage Montsouris MM from a Japanese eBay seller. She is in pretty much perfect condition. Also came with a dust bag which I was not expecting. The leather is in great condition but given that it’s from 2000, should I condition the leather at all?

I just Purchased the ellipse backpack! I am Hoping that it holds my agenda and diagnostic tools for work. I needed a little pick me up

I finally went into the LV store today and ended up purchasing the monogram with the black! The turtledove color had a scuff mark on it AGAIN… 3rd one I looked at. So despite the color being gorgeous I just couldn’t do it. The black looked too “meh” on me. So monogram it is! Never would’ve thought! I guess 3rd time is a charm! I hope I’m happy with my decision
