Small classic flap vs mini rectangular?

I am searching for Chanel double flap small but I don’t know if the mini is a better choice/investment? Please help with the differences!

Photos/reviews/pros/cons/recommendations are needed!!!! Thank you!

I have the small flap in black caviar. I love the look, the size, the 4 grommets (can double the chain), the double flap and the burgundy interior. However, the price difference is huge. I mainly sprung for the small classic because I knew I wanted something in black caviar with silver hardware - currently impossible to find in a boutique at this time! Also the craftsmanship and details are just so much better on the classics.

The mini certainly wins in terms of price point and it is a true crossbody if that’s what you prefer. For the past few seasons it has only been made in lambskin, so that’s the biggest consideration if you have a preference in mind.

I’m not sure what you mean by “investment”. If you’re looking to resell it, I would say mini is better as the demand is very high (if in a classic color like black and in very good condition). For “lasting power” they both have practically the same classic appearance. However, some women on here believe the mini looks “too young” so that would be my main concern if you’re thinking about longevity and a “forever piece”. Hope this helps!

Can the mini be worn cross body?

Yes As for Mini the chain is very long. I believe it's around 59cm drop length

Hello ladies,

I am curious about the size difference between an 8" rectangular mini flap with the small classic flap.
Does the small classic flap have a flap inside?
Are the holes on the top difference?
Is the small flap only 9" long (my guess)?
Is the small classic flap discontinued?

As you already know, the price difference is huge, so it would be great to know before I decide on one.
It would be great if there are modelling pictures or side by side pictures.
For reference, the m/l classic flap is 10" x 6" x 2.5"

The number on the card is unique for every authentic bag. It’s a good thing you can’t find it on the internet.

Hey all!
Im finally venturing into chanel and planning my next bag. Mini vs small. I know I want a black bag with ghw but unsure of the size.

I have only been able to see a M/L in store and did not like the size or how it looks on my frame.
I though I wanted a mini but I got a WOC as my first bag and feel that it's too small for my frame(still love that bag though) SO Im not sure if I should get the mini anymore? How does the small compare and look? I dont stuff my purses and am very minimalistic-card holder, keys, lipstick is all I carry +/- sunglasses.

Can I wear the small crossbody? that's very important too.

Thoughts? would love to see mod shots for comparison

I've seen many videos where it's shown that the small flap holds just as much if not maybe a little less than a mini due to the lack of a flap in the latter. There is also a huge price difference between the two, so obviously with the mini you get more bang for your buck.

I'm not sure about wearing the small flap as a crossbody though. I have the M/L flap and I sometimes wear it crossbody, but it sits pretty high on my waist and I'm not that tall (5'2). It's definitely a look lol - but sometimes I can't be bothered wearing it on my shoulder so I do it anyway. I'm pretty sure the chain length between the M/L and small is de minimus and therefore probably a very similar length.

I had to have the chain extended by LeatherPros on my small in order to wear it crossbody. I’m 5’4” around 135 pounds. They use original Chanel parts and you would never know it had been done. [emoji4]

I LOVE the small. It’s a perfect size for day and also for night. I wouldn’t advise a mini if you already have a WOC.

The woc doesn’t fit anything! I probably regret purchasing that bag the most out of my collection. I also have a mini square and feel it is a little too small for my needs. I have the reissue mini, and it is much better. Perhaps you should try the mini rectangular or square? They are definitely better than the woc. The square mini has a shorter chain length than the rectangular mini. I’ve never tried the small classic flap. Chaseamie does a lot of Chanel comparisons on YouTube. It’s probably best to try them on in person. Good luck!

I also hesitated between mini and small and ended up getting a mini black lambskin with GHW as 1) it's much cheaper while holds the same amount and 2) it's more suitable to wear crossbody.
It was also my 1st Chanel bag so I didn't want to risk getting a too expensive one and ending up not liking it or not using it often.
The downside is that you can't get a new mini in caviar and lamb is more prone to scratch, and you can't really wear mini with double-chains but I didn't regret my purchase. I might still get a small CF, probably a small beige caviar. The problem with small bag is that you don't find many on the pre-loved market while the new ones are more and more expensive with the price increase each year.

@Yss, personally I like the other Mini you are carrying... it’s also her/his first mod shot with Chanel I suppose *smiles*
PS - I have the mini, started late for various reasons despite wanting one for more than 10 years. But in another life, I would certainly want to start earlier, esp knowing how beautiful and useful they are to me, and with tots in tow.
If you are considering other options, you want to try the Reissue 225 or 226. It’s lighter and roomier giving you leeway for changing needs. I love the 226 for travel worn crossbody and it fits all that I need with room to spare and it doesn’t feel as heavy as CF M/L and the calfskin leather is really quite child proof (spills, scrapes etc) and weathers well with age

I’m stuck deciding between the small CF and the rectangular mini. Please help!

I wouldn’t carry a Chanel for work due to the nature of my job and I only use much larger bags for travel (usually with a smaller cross body bag inside), so it will only be used for shopping, days/nights out. I usually only take my phone, lipstick, purse or card holder with me on these occasions.

I already have quite a few cross body bags, so I’m leaning more towards the small as it is a shoulder bag.

I do think the mini and the small seem to be the best fit for what I want. I think the ML looks too big for nights out, personally - though I am 5ft 8 so I’d be willing to hear from anyone who has a ML.

This will be my first ever Chanel bag and I might not be able to get another for a good while due to an upcoming house purchase, so I don’t know whether to just get the small CF now while I can afford to spend more, as it could be another couple of years until I can spare the money again!

Pros for small:
Classic design
Can get caviar (helpful as I can be clumsy)
I like the shape/design more than the mini
Multi use due to the straps

Cons for small:
Similar in size to the mini but more pricey
Can’t be worn cross body as I’m taller

Pros for mini:
Cheaper
Can be worn cross body
Can use a clip to shorten in to shoulder length (but this could damage the chain)

Cons:
Doesn’t feel as special as a CF
Can only get lambskin

Small! It's my favorite size in the classic flap! You already have crossbody bags so it'll add some variety. I'd also get it now since you have the funds for it (i'm also house doing right now so I feel you) haha!

But honestly I think it looks better than the rectangle mini.. It's a gorgeous piece!
