DH has gotten the thrifting bug! All of the sudden he wants to go to thrift shops to look for purses. He doesn't know what to look for but he wants to accompany me. Today we went to a nearby town. I didn't really find anything but one of the stores should have been on the show "Hoarders"!

However, I did get something sort of rare from ebay - a post pouch!

Haha! That kinda sounds like my brother. Since I got those great deals over the summer, he thinks we need to start a show called Purse Finders and sell it to TLC or some similar channel. He wants me to find the purses and he says he wants to do the haggling for them! ( "$500 purse, I give you $50 for it.") Needless to say, I said no, because I like to keep most of my finds.
BTW, that is a horrible thrift store. Yuck!

I love this bag! Every time I see one on Ebay, I always get outbid. I actually think this might work better for me than the Leigh. Is it smaller?

I always thought the only thing keeping my Leigh from being absolutely perfect is the shorter shoulder style strap. Plus, it's a little heavier too. So, the Bleecker measures almost exactly the same as far as interior dimensions. The bleecker may even seem a bit bigger because it doesn't have the gusseted sides like the Leigh. IF only it had come in regular leather too, and not just suede.

Here's the funny thing - now it seems to be fine, but I swear that it got stuck at one point and when I tried to pull it past that point the teeth didn't catch - meaning that it was supposed to close but it remained open. I thought that one of the teeth might be bent. I have had zippers do this before but I have never seen one repair itself!

Hmmm....sounds like a bad batch of zippers on these bags. But I do love the bag :smile1:

There are some great size comparison reveals on this forum.

Here's a great one!
And the poppy Willis is one of my truly absolutely FAVORITE bags. I carry the old one as well as the new one a lot. They are able to handle about the same amount of stuff.

Awesome! Love that comparison. There is something about the shape of the new ones that I really like. I'm hoping to score a job there and maybe a staff discount as well since it's a bit out of my price range for at least another year until school is done and paid for...Unless of course I get a job there and then it will be a Christmas present to myself LOL!

I would have sworn I posted this already so I apologize if it double posts.

Found this cosmetic bag... I paid more than I normally would, but was excited because I don't often see this color of dark purple!! And I always liked this style- with the blue ticking material as a lining. It cost me $12. I have my work cut out for me cleaning the inside of her but gonna try!

I actually like a longer strap and played with attaching the strap from my Flint Editorial Zoe to the original strap and I think it looks kind of cool. We'll see how I feel about it when I carry her. Strangely, you can tell it doesn't really match when it's sitting there but when I put it over my shoulder it looks like it belongs, the hardware matches and the chain accents looks kinda cool. We'll see about that.

A few years ago after Ali went to the Outlet, a bunch of us on tPF thought the strap should be a bit longer. If you go to a hardware store, you can find the large brass snap (dog leash) clasps. I found that adding one of the large ones made a huge difference in where it hit me. I tried finding the old thread but didn't see it easily since I am apparently not calling it by the right term. ;)

wow, that place is a mess!

Congrats on your post pouch, mine is probably my favorite little bag. I lucked out on mine, I was carrying it yesterday and I'm still amazed at the condition, you would think it came straight from the store and it is probably almost 20 years old (old serial number).

Can't wait to see pix. They are hard to find if only because no one knows what they are called so you can't really search under the name.

I think they are rare. Even when I look at most of the vintage listings, I haven't seen many. This one was called "Brown Classic Coach Bag" and I got it for $25 plus shipping. It had a dirt spot on the front that I had to camouflage with paint, a small dent near the top that looks like a stain, and some wear on the edges. Here is what it looks like now. I am going to do a few coats of Blackrock but I am happy with how it came out.

Thanks-I actually tried that and have used it with a couple of bags. I have a couple of those large brass snaps from...believe it or not, dog stuff! I don't use it with leashes but they are handy for various other things when you have dogs at a show or training event. They are even perfectly burnished to match with the old legacy hardware. I had one attached to the Zoe strap that I used just to give it a little extra length, but I really like the Ali with the LONG, almost double length that adding the Zoe strap gives it. I just need to decide if I like the look. I doubt anyone but a "Coachie" would notice, since the hardware is a perfect match.

aww-we're twins! I'm sure they only made them for a year or two at the most, there are very few out there

I LOVE the post pouch! But it's just too small for me to carry. I tried another vintage bag maker's nearly IDENTICAL bag before committing the $ for a post pouch. (it was the littie aigner post pouch look alike...exact same measurements) and it was just too small. So sad. And I already have too many other purses that I seem to look at and not carry enough. I'm trying to maintain SOME sort of self control. It's rare when that happens believe me.

It is kind of small but I am hoping that it will satisfy my desire for a new Willis since it looks so much like it. I don't need any more bags. I have to stop looking! I find myself buying bags just for the rehabbing challenge.

I know what you mean. I can't stop entirely, but I'm trying to THINK about each purchae choise. I do sell what I don't truly LOVE so that makes it easier. Coach really keeps coming up with things to love. 70 years of bags to love!!
